Salem’s Lot
This was my first book.
This was my first too!
The dark tower
Night Shift is a short story collection, one of his earlier works, and shows a range of what he’s capable of. I would start there if you don’t want to commit to a novel right away.
The Shining
Misery!
IT, has to be my favorite.
Carrie
MISERY! i cudnt put that book down. I loved IT too but it is really long.
The shining or carrie
Carrie
I loved Bag of Bones! But I am currently reading IT
I love IT so much!
I am not far In it but I’m liking it!! Plan on making a dent in it tomorrow!
Oh geez. Carrie was his first so maybe should be yours
The Stand, hands down!!
The Green Mile
This was going to be my suggestion!!
Misert, Needful Things, or The Green Mile. I love the Dark Tower series, but it is very allegorical…”mature” rather than “vintage” King.
Good question! Same here! ??
Ooh. Me too, me too!!!
From a Buick 8
Salem’s Lot
I just finished his newest one Gwendys Button Box. I liked it
I have one of his books but I haven’t read it yet… Sorry can’t help ?
I just finished Lisey’s Story and it was pretty interesting definitely not what I was expecting when I first started reading it
I was told The Stand but I am reading Lisey’s Story first
I just finished Lisey’s Story today
He actually said in the Rolling Stone interview that his favorite is Liseys Story!
My first King book was It. An amazing read. All his books are intertwined he has Turley created his own personal horror universe.
I don’t like his books but love the movies and shows based off his books. Its not that i dislike its that the first 200 pages are slow for me
+1 more book donated <3
Misery
11/22/63 was good and gwendys button box. I have misery, the girl who loved Tom Gordon and hearts in Atlantis but haven’t read them. I love his son’s books as well (Joe hill)
Oh I recently purchased dreamcatcher and the talisman but have not read yet
Absolutely love his books! I read IT first and recommend it
Pet Semetary. It was the first one that I read. That also could be because the movie was filmed near where I lived at the time.
Pet Cemetery…?
Misery is my favorite.
It
Don’t start with ‘The Stand’ it’s got ?? Him ? ? in it.
As am I…but I’m looking very forward to reading his Dark Tower series! I hear his collaboration with Peter Straub, The Talisman, is really good too.
The Black House collaboration was good too
It!!!!
Mosery
The Shining. Start there.
Not a fan he is very descriptive
That’s the reason I love him, I can picture every detail of the story as I read along
@Melody a lot of people agree with you I like descriptions but I feel his is a whole new level
definitely accurate!
Definitely the stand
If you want to try Stephen King’s writing without the gore, try Joyland. A very good coming of age mystery set in an amusement park.
“Stephen King Virgin” HAHAHAHAHA
Read the Dark Tower series, and you’ll be enamored with SK’s writing forever.
@Jasmine watch the new movie trailer coming out!
@Jasmine yesssss!! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GjwfqXTebIY
You won’t regret leafing through its pages, @Jasmine.
IT!
Misery!
I’ve always thought Salem’s Lot was a good place to start.
The talisman
Cujo
I really enjoyed The Shining and Carrie. I haven’t read all of his books yet but those are a couple of my favorites I have read.
I started reading his books with The Stand. I was hooked after that, so that is the one I suggest starting with!
Salem’s Lot or Carrie. The Green Mile.
Salem’s Lot! I started with that one my freshman year of high school and really enjoyed it. I also really enjoyed Needful Things. He has a great writing style. He really understands people and lets you really get into the character’s heads. Whichever you choose I hope you enjoy it! Happy reading! ?
Misery and Carrie
Salem’s Lot.
Misery, It, salem’s Lot
I am actually not a fan, I think the stories slow, hard to get through, and terribly boring. Every book that I have attempted has failed terribly but I know that my opinion of the books are rare.
This is me. The last like 100 pages are the entire story lol
The green mile!!!
MISERY
but y’know you might be weirded out.
Salems Lot it’s a good starter. Then IT or Misery
I started with Carrie. Just finished Misery and I didn’t like it so couldn’t recommend. It is really good but idk about a starter.
I started with It, which is a very long one but it’s got me hooked for life so its worth checking out.
I started with The Shining and I loved it
I started with The Shining and loved it! So far I’ve also read The Dead Zone, Under the Dome, On Writing, and The Stand. I’ve really enjoyed them all. I’m about to start It today ?
I am SK virgin too! I am popping my cherry with Bag of Bones!
I loved The Green Mile, The Dark Half, and It!
My first was Carrie I loved it. I really wanna read more of his. I have Pet cemetery on my list but haven’t got round to it yet
Pet Sematary, or Needful Things. I’m currently reading It ? I didn’t like Carrie, so I can’t recommend ?
I read his early stuff, but eventually he got too good at scaring me so I stopped reading them. However, I enjoyed The Dead Zone, Carrie, and Salem’s Lot before Night Shift did me in. (The story about the rats in the cellars was just too much for me to handle without nightmares.)
Geralds game was my first stephen king book
carrie was my 1st stephen king book i read
11/22/63 is my favorite King (so far) but it’s big. Carrie is good and was my first King. He has some good short stories out there too. Misery and Salems Lot (and IT, although I’m familiar with the story) are all on my list!
Under the dome. It’s long but it’s my favorite
It
IT all the way.
Carrie or 11.22.63
