It depends on the book. Sometimes, if a book is really good or it has left an “Oh wow I will never read a book that good again” feeling, I have to wait a day or 2. Sometimes I can dive right into a new book, especially if it’s a book I am anticipating.
I’m not a very fast reader but I also like to read two books at the same time! I’m currently reading two books, one in English and the other in Portuguese! I take a small break before I start on a new one! ?
The better the book, the harder it is to like the next one. I have to find easy reads in between good ones but I go straight from one book to another. No in between time.
I always have another book to start usually the day I finish. When I am really touched by the book sometimes I have to wait a day or two just to process my reaction.
Usually right away. However, there have been times when the book I just finished was so good, so completely engrossing, that I need a day or two before jumping in to another book.
That depends on the book. I’ve spent days in book grief, unable to leave the story behind and begin a new one. I usually read short stories or poetry then. But sometimes I just have to re-read the story I just finished. I actually love when that happens!
Usually right away 🙂 Unless I am reading into the wee hours of the morning, and then I have to get a little sleep so that my book hangover is not to bad
Me, too. There are books that just stay with you for a while. After I read The Nightingale I could not get into my next book. Took me a couple of days to get back in the groove
Usually right away – or at the very least I pick my next read for when I have time. I usually end up finishing a book before bed or during a lunch break so I have other things I need to do
The next day since sometimes the book I just finished reading was so deep I have to get it out of my head but even if it isn’t heavy, I need a day to clear my mind.
Within minutes, usually. Hate being without reading material!! But I find that if a book was really good or heart-wrenching it might take me a day or two before I find another one I can read.
About 15 minutes. I cannot NOT have a book in progress, even if I’m about to turn out the light. I have to at least crack open a new one and read the first page or two.
I start a new one before I finish. I just start as many as I want at the same time lol
Right away!
It depends on the book I finished. Sometimes one is so great, I have to savor it a few days before moving on.
Agree!
Immediately!
Minutes
It really depends on the book. Some characters are like really good wine–I want to sit with them for a bit.

If I finish it late at night, I pick out the next one to read and might not start it until the next morning. I always have a book I am reading.
I do that as well. I almost always finish a book at night. I try to
Immediately!!
For me, if the book I finish is really good I have a difficult time moving on. Takes me at least a day to recover!

I need to wait until at least the next day … just a quirk of mine.

Immediately if not sooner! Unless it’s a real life changer. Then I ponder awhile.
immediately
It depends on the book I just finished. Sometimes I like to think it about for a few days. ?
Me, too. There are books that just stay with you for a while. After I read The Nightingale I could not get into my next book. Took me a couple of days to get back in the groove
I just finished The Nightingale. It was the book I was thinking about when I posted my comment. We think alike!
Normally right After
Depends. Sometimes I have to take a couple of days of book-ending mourning. Sometimes it’s as quick as my hand can reach for the next book.
Same here!
Immediately!
Right away!
Before it’s done, ?

If it’s after midnight, I wait until the next day! lol Before midnight, I’d start another one yet that evening.
the next day!
Usually the next but depending on the time of day
The next day
Or the same day, depending in the time.
The next day since sometimes the book I just finished reading was so deep I have to get it out of my head but even if it isn’t heavy, I need a day to clear my mind.

I usually have several going at once.
Right away. Actually, I often have two or three books being read simultaneously.

Within minutes, usually. Hate being without reading material!! But I find that if a book was really good or heart-wrenching it might take me a day or two before I find another one I can read.

How quickly can you download a new one?
It depends on timing, mood and what’s up next

Love to read, so immediately.
Most of the time, yes. Sometimes I need a minute.

Pretty quick!

30 seconds i’d say!
Immediately.
Always one waiting, always the same say unless it is late evening.
About 15 minutes. I cannot NOT have a book in progress, even if I’m about to turn out the light. I have to at least crack open a new one and read the first page or two.
No, I just can’t! I think back to the book I finished and call it a grieving process!!
Definitely immediately! In fact, when I start the last chapter, I’m thinking, “what can I read next”!
I do!
Right away! If it’s a series and I like it, I’ll buy the next one on my Kindle!
Depends on how the last book affected me.
Oh wait, yea. This too. If I have a book hangover, I might need a day or two.
Immediately.

Reading? One day. Writing? I try to go a month but usually have to start something within three weeks or I start turning into Martha Stewart. 🙂
Right then
I always have two or three books that I currently read so this is never a problem. 😉
ASAP
Immediately
It depends on how much emotion it took away. Sometimes it may take a day to “recover “. ?
I know the feeling!
If I’m reading a series (which I prefer), then I start it immediately. If it’s a stand alone, I browse my NYPL wishlist and my Kindle content.
For me, it depends if I have a book hangover. That happens when a book was just too good. Otherwise, right away.
Right away
Most times I need to grieve the characters in the finished book for a day or two before beginning another!
Same day!
Asap
Immediately if it is early enough.
The next day I like to give myself a little time to reflect…unless it’s a series then asap lol
Right away
Right away unless I need time to “digest”.
Right away. I can’t seem to go without reading.
