Minored in Classics in university. I haven’t read anything in a while, but I’m tempted to re-read Homer and Virgil.

An Italian author wrote a version of the Illiad with the main, human characters, leaving out the gods and goddesses. I will look it up tomorrow. It was very popular and was read out loud on the radio. People would plan their lunch around the reading.

Robert Graves did a two volume set, Edith Hamilton did one and coming out in the fall is another by Stephen Fry; he spoke about it at the Hay on Wye book festival this week. And of course the classical authors are a standard reference as well.
