Only thing I ever re-read was Gone With The Wind. I only did that because I first read it when I was about 12 years old and wanted to see if it still held up as an adult reader.
My very most favorites, absolutely. To Kill a Mockingbird, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn are the two that immediately come to mind, but there are others as well. I’m in my 50’s now, and I get different things from the story every time I read them.
There is one series that I read when I am totally stressed and need to escape from the real world. I can open the first trilogy anywhere and be in that world, and hidden away from all the bad stuff
I can’t, if I try I can read maybe a chapter and the whole story/plot comes back to me and I remember I read it already so I can’t there is know point to it
I don’t usually reread any but I have forgotten reading a book and thinking it’s new to me until I start reading…but if it’s been years I’ll go ahead and reread it
There are a few I re-read. All Souls Trilogy and Outlander series. I read them and listen to them. I have also read Gone with the wind several times as well as watched the movie.
I’ve only reread a small handful of books, though there are hundreds that I intend to. I know I’ve read To Kill A Mockingbird maybe 3 times. That’s easily my biggest reread.
Definitely! It’s much easier now that many of my books are on my kindle app now. But I moved a year and a half ago from a house to an apartment so I couldn’t move every one on my books. My most recent re-read is Obsession- I think I’ve read it 3 times.
Wish I could, but there are too many good books out there. I do keep the ones I loved! The rest I donate to a local senior citizen run second reading store.
I reread certain authors, Stephen King, Maeve Binchey, Rosamund Pilcher, because I read them so quickly the first time I miss so many details. A few years later when I read them again it’s like reading a new book!
I wish I had more time to do that! I keep saying “I need to go back and read that book again” but then I get a bunch of new books and never go back to the old ones!
Often. Maybe you need new favorite books. ?. I change and have new experiences with each passing year, so a great book will come to life in a new way each time I read it. Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera never get old. I especially think of these beautiful books as palate cleansers to return to after I read a bad book like Gone Girl and need to get its nasty taste out of my mouth.
More than one person has mentioned to me both of these books. They list these two as favorite books. I don’t love magical realism, which is funny I guess because I like fantasy. I just can’t make myself pick them up. What can you say to change my mind???
Naomi Gargano–And I’m just the opposite. I love magic realism but am not such a fan of fantasy. I guess it takes all kinds of readers to make a world. ?. What I love about magical realism is that it reveals the gorgeous and strange in the real world so that even bad things can be beautiful and to some degree even humorous. Discovering that perspective has changed my way of viewing the world and has changed my life for the better. Magic Realism gives me hope. It’s not just an escape.
Altho most folks hate getting older, one advantage to ‘’ Sometimers ‘’ is that I can reread a whole book series and enjoy it all over again because I really love the characters❣️Sometimers is ‘’ Sometimes I remember and Sometimes I don’t ‘’ when our Estrogen decreases so does our memory ?
Sometimes; I’m doing that right now! It all depends on the book and what my mood is when I scan my Kindle for m next read! Many of the books and authors are worth re-reading and each time, you get something different from the book/story.
I reread Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass as an adult, because I wanted to understand them better. I’ve reread Far Pavilions by MM Kaye just because I loved it so much.
The Great Gatsby is the only one I reread every few years. Not much for rewatching movies either. I watch The Buccaneers every few years or Howard s End. Maybe I should reread those books!
I reread some books that are so special to me. I will reread Junot Diaz because of his way with words. Shotgun Love Songs by Nickolas Butler because it hits home. Anything by Annie Proulx or Louise Erdrich.
I love rereading favorite books! I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve read Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld, and I still enjoy it every time I pick it up.
I have a handful i reread regularly. The Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series and the Jack Reacher series I will always get on audio when available at the library. I’ve listened to some of the Jack Reachers probably 4-5 times. (I love those books and adore Dick Hill, who reads them.) I reread The Stand and Swan Song every couple of years. Also The Descent by Jeff Long which I think I absolutely brilliant.
Re-reading is the norm for me since I am a teacher. I usually have at least one student per year that wants to read Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. There are some parts I have memorized by now! LOL! 😉
I can not. One, I’m a slow reader and I don’t feel like I have the time. So many books, right? But mostly, I am usually disappointed. It’s not that the book isn’t still good, but it is not a good as the magical “first time.”
All the time. It’s like visiting with old friends. And each time, something different will touch my heart or open my eyes to a new understanding of something happening in my life. I just need to reconnect to the feelings the story had first inspired.
Nope, can’t do it. Once I read it, that’s it
Nope… I can not reread a book at all. I just can’t.
I LOVE Harry Potter. Read all the books now I listen to them with my kids in the car. There’s so much I missed the first time.
Only thing I ever re-read was Gone With The Wind. I only did that because I first read it when I was about 12 years old and wanted to see if it still held up as an adult reader.
Harry Potter is the only books I’ve ever read twice !
My very most favorites, absolutely. To Kill a Mockingbird, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn are the two that immediately come to mind, but there are others as well. I’m in my 50’s now, and I get different things from the story every time I read them.
Me neither
Never
Some I do!!!
Nope! So many books, so little time.
I do!
I cant either
Only if its been years
I do on some of them, granted it is more of a skim but sometimes I just want to read a story I know and love
I do especially when I’m down and need a known pick me up
Only a very select few!
Mostly just the classics- like Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, etc. most of the contemporary books I only read once- so many books, so little time! ?
I do.
I do, I have about 5 books that I can read over and over again. When I am in a bad place emotionally it is like a old friend.
I do not. I pay mine forward
Oh my, yes! There are some books that feel like coming home.
The ones I have not read in a while like some of Stephen king depends on the mood
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve read To Kill A Mockingbird. I’ve lost count. I just like to go visit Maycomb, Atticus, Scout & Jem.
There is one series that I read when I am totally stressed and need to escape from the real world. I can open the first trilogy anywhere and be in that world, and hidden away from all the bad stuff
I have yet to do that. In my mind there are just way to many books out there to re-read something I’ve already read.
I can’t, if I try I can read maybe a chapter and the whole story/plot comes back to me and I remember I read it already so I can’t there is know point to it
I don’t usually reread any but I have forgotten reading a book and thinking it’s new to me until I start reading…but if it’s been years I’ll go ahead and reread it
I don’t. Then again, I’ll rarely rewatch tv shows and movies either
Me too!!
Absolutely!
All the time. Especially if I am sad I have a few go to series I read to cheer me up
I call those “comfort reads”!
Me!
I never reread a book, just haven’t been able to do it ever.
I really only reread The Blue Bistro every summer
I freaking love that book so much
@Jamie me too! I think it’s all the food ?
@Amy ugh same ♥️♥️. And a little Adrienne & Thatch
No- the book list Is too stout
I do.
I do
I re-read more than I read new books.
^^ This.
I usually dont either.
I never have, because there are too many good new stories to read.
I do if a new book is coming out.
I don’t think I’ve ever reread a book.
If my book club picks a book I read a few years ago I will re-read it so I am better prepared to talk about it. Otherwise I prefer to read a new book.
I want to, but there are always so many unread books calling my name lol! I’ve only reread Jane Eyre which is my all-time favorite.
??♀️??♀️
I do ♥️
I do but it’s usually years apart.
Have too many that I haven’t read yet.
Me too
Never! There are too many books on my TBR list to reread stuff
There are a few I re-read. All Souls Trilogy and Outlander series. I read them and listen to them. I have also read Gone with the wind several times as well as watched the movie.
Outlander!! ?
I’ve only reread a small handful of books, though there are hundreds that I intend to.
I know I’ve read To Kill A Mockingbird maybe 3 times. That’s easily my biggest reread.
Me!
Too many new books to read, I can’t keep up.
There are too many new books on my TBR pile and it grows daily. I haven’t got the time. ?
Me
Definitely! It’s much easier now that many of my books are on my kindle app now. But I moved a year and a half ago from a house to an apartment so I couldn’t move every one on my books. My most recent re-read is Obsession- I think I’ve read it 3 times.
I’ve never done it, nor tried. My girls (19 and 26): alllll the time, since they were young.
I have many series I re-read regularly.
I do!
I can`t re read books
To many books to little time. I hardly ever re read a book. I did read Because of Winn Dixie 5 times and I could read it again.
Meeee!
I do it often. I enjoy them every time, too
I haven’t done it since I was a kid. Too many great new books to read.
Me
I just don’t have time to re-read books.
Wish I could, but there are too many good books out there. I do keep the ones I loved! The rest I donate to a local senior citizen run second reading store.
I don’t re-read books unless it is a classic I read as a child.
Nope
I don’t have time to re read. ..to many other books! !
I reread certain authors, Stephen King, Maeve Binchey, Rosamund Pilcher, because I read them so quickly the first time I miss so many details. A few years later when I read them again it’s like reading a new book!
Not me ? can’t do it… but I recently said I’m going to try audiobooking some of them
It was a very long time before I was able to do this.
No, I have too many I want to read to spend time rereading any.
All the time. I read so much and have limited funds that I am always re-reading books.
I do. Sometimes I just need time with an old friend ?
I wish I had more time to do that! I keep saying “I need to go back and read that book again” but then I get a bunch of new books and never go back to the old ones!

no
I can’t do it….
No.
Rarely.
Not enough time!
I like to reread my books. I don’t do it often since I have so many to read, but sometimes it’s nice to revisit some of my favorites.
I do. If it’s a good enough book, you’ll find something new. Or you reread it for the familiarity and comfort of the characters.
no but I still keep them
I can’t do it
I cannot either.
I haven’t , but intend to some day….
Altho most folks hate getting older, one advantage to ‘’ Sometimers ‘’ is that I can reread a whole book series and enjoy it all over again because I really love the characters❣️Sometimers is
‘’ Sometimes I remember and Sometimes I don’t ‘’ when our Estrogen decreases so does our memory ?
Always!
I have re read a few but there are some from my childhood that I wanted to but just couldn’t
Sometimes; I’m doing that right now! It all depends on the book and what my mood is when I scan my Kindle for m next read! Many of the books and authors are worth re-reading and each time, you get something different from the book/story.
Mostly only the older Jodi Picoult books like The Pact & Nineteen Minutes!
I reread Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass as an adult, because I wanted to understand them better. I’ve reread Far Pavilions by MM Kaye just because I loved it so much.
Once I read a book…thats it…won’t read over.
Too many good books waiting out there for me!! 🙂
Only books I reread are the little house series. Childhood favorite
i have done it exactly twice in all my years of reading.
Indeed.
I do it
Not enough time for it
No time to get through my TBR pile.
Can’t waste time re-reading.
I can re-read them but it has to be few years between readings .
I do.
If I ever do, it has to be at least 20 years since I read it the first time. 😀
I do, but it is rare. I reread two immediately. Peace Like A River and I’ll Be Your Blue Sky.
Sometimes, depends on which book it is.
The Great Gatsby is the only one I reread every few years. Not much for rewatching movies either. I watch The Buccaneers every few years or Howard s End. Maybe I should reread those books!
Christmas movies are the ones I rewatch. Occasionally I’ll rewatch some others with my children. I just don’t really enjoy it.
I have so many on my TBR list and until that list is finished I can’t read any of my favorite!
I gotta really really luv the book to do it.
I do. Sometimes I just need to visit them.
I don’t. So many books, so little time…
I have only read one book over – Chances by Jackie Collins.
I don’t too many out there to read
I’ve read Barbara Kingsolver’s, Prodigal Summer, 3 times. It is luscious.
Never been able to.
No, I have so many I want read
I do. I have books that I’ve read at different times of my life that comforted me so when I get the twinge I read whatever book helped the situation
No. Too many great ones to read.
I don’t have time.
There are certain classics I reread often. To Kill a Mocking Bird. Anything by Dickens, Austen, or the Brontes. But beyond that, I don’t generally.
I cant either Idk feels weird
Me. Some of them with years in between. It is hard when there are so many new books to enjoy ?
You are reading
I have a lot of books to read from my favorite authors. Just finished thecARC of Beach House Reunion and started the ARC of Bring Me Back
I do, but usually a few years later
Absolutely
All the time! Sometimes, I just need to go back to a familiar, beloved world. And I invariably discover something new with every re-read.
I agree!
I don’t but I keep them.
I have in the past, not too much lately since I have too many to read the first time around
Yep. I love to study the mechanics of the best ones, listen to the flow, catch the nuances.
There is one. The Warden by Anthony Trollope. This is the only book I have re-read.
I remember when I was younger it didn’t bother me to reread a book I thoroughly enjoyed… But as I got older (Yay me) I can’t seem to enjoy it.
I have read Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard AT LEAST four times!
I reread some books that are so special to me. I will reread Junot Diaz because of his way with words. Shotgun Love Songs by Nickolas Butler because it hits home. Anything by Annie Proulx or Louise Erdrich.
Frequently!
I do NOT re-read.
Except for Chances I never re-read either! And it’s been years since I read Chances.
I never, ever used to but this past year I have re-read some of my favorite books & found that I missed a lot the 1st time I read them.
I love rereading favorite books! I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve read Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld, and I still enjoy it every time I pick it up.
I don’t. I rarely watch a movie that I’ve seen before, either. Never have been one for reruns!
Always more than twice
I only once reread a book. Follow the river
So many book so little time
Finishing up A Gentleman in Moscow-then on to my TBR pile.
I have a handful i reread regularly. The Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series and the Jack Reacher series I will always get on audio when available at the library. I’ve listened to some of the Jack Reachers probably 4-5 times. (I love those books and adore Dick Hill, who reads them.)
I reread The Stand and Swan Song every couple of years. Also The Descent by Jeff Long which I think I absolutely brilliant.
I don’t re-read any books. There are too many books to read. ☺
So true I have way too many books on my goodreads to read list to go back for re reads
Always! There’s one I read every year ❤️
I read Because of Savannah by @SarahPatt 3 times
I don’t re-read books. I just move on to the next one
I don’t either. There are too many other books I want to read.
I haven’t done it but would think about doing it with The Lilac Girls!
Re-reading is the norm for me since I am a teacher. I usually have at least one student per year that wants to read Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. There are some parts I have memorized by now! LOL! 😉
2 or 3 Times easily !! If I can’t put it down
I have reread the Twilight series a few times, and Gone With the Wind.
Never
I’m with you. There just isn’t enough time. But the good ones I read, I remember.
I would if there weren’t so many great new books!
Not enough time unless it’s something like The Giving Tree or Goodnight Moon.
Nope
I do — they are comfort food for my soul.
If it’s a favorite, I’ve re-read it at least once, which is why I ran out of bookcases a LONG time ago!
I never have time
Too many new ones in my stacks!
I have only been able to reread a handful of books…too many books to read the same one twice!
Rarely
Most of the time that I do it is for reviewing series. I’ll reread book two before reviewing book 3.
There are too many new ones out that I can’t get around to. No need to reread anything.
I have started to re-read a few of the books I have read.
Yes, love to re-read my favorites!
I can not. One, I’m a slow reader and I don’t feel like I have the time. So many books, right? But mostly, I am usually disappointed. It’s not that the book isn’t still good, but it is not a good as the magical “first time.”

I love to reread my favorite books! I dubbed last summer the season of the reread and it was!!
