I have yet to read A Thousand Splendid Suns. The Kite Runner was a look into how terrorist groups take over whole areas and it is a peek into the culture. It is definitely a great read.

I found the audiobook on YouTube and it was good … i listened to it maybe 2 or 3 years ago so i don’t really remember it that well… i think i wouldn’t have finished the book if i read it but because the audio was good i wanted to see what people were talking about … you know, it’s a well known novel… i remember that there were things that i didn’t like… i mean things in the details that i thought they weren’t right … Don’t ask about them cause i really don’t remember ?

I’ve honestly read it half (I borrowed it from a library) and one day ,I may complete it .But I liked it till where I read it .It was completely different from what I’d read before and it was the narrator with his faults , observations and inner struggle whom I think was the most complex character in the novel .
But then again I haven’t read all of it ,so you’ll have to see for yourself

I listened to the audiobook, read by the author, who did a good job. He really helped transport me into his culture. The book gives an excellent background into the problems of that country.

I loved the book. Not certain I would recommend it for the end of January-February. I am picking my books carefully at this point, reading The Music Shop, by Rachel Joyce. It is intelligent enough and sweet! A bit romantic, loveable characters.

Racism exists everywhere. I didn’t think any less of Afghanistan. Just less of people who think it’s ok to commit atrocities. It was more a story of making things right than about a country. It was a very good but very sad book.

It was okay. Lots of black and white movie references and part of plot line. Not really a thriller, more of a mystery. And quite sad, really.

Depends what you’re out for. The writing is fine the story another story #nopun. It’s a book for a particular audience… We got enough cliches about the east on Fox news don’t wanna be reading them too.
