It was my first Picoult book. I loved it and went on to read everything by her after. p.s. The movie ruined the book (as they usually do). If you have seen it already, don’t let it stop you from trying the book.
@Tonya Some of her endings are not my favorite, but if you need more ideas… I highly recommend Salem Falls, Plain Truth, The Storyteller & Small Great Things. I like her collection of books, but those are the ones that stand out for me.
@Kristine I have never seen the movie. The story has stayed with me for years and I didn’t want see it once I heard what they had done to the ending ….
Me obv! You borrowed it from me lol! I thought it was a good book but it was also sad and frusterating. Especially the ending. It is so different from the movie
I didn’t like the Mom for the first half+ of the book, but then I started seeing things from her perspective. For 13 years her entire existence was focused on saving her daughter. I think it was just second nature for her to want to continue trying to save her.
Its a big favorite of mine and b/c of this book she has become a favorite author of mine ❤ Of course I love some more than others but have read almost all she has written and enjoyed each!
I have lost a child and it brought up all of those feelings and more because I really felt for each and every one of the characters and their perspectives.
I loved it, all qualities of a good. Humor, sadness, well rounded plot, unexpected ending.
LOVED it!
Omg. Great book…Jodi picoult. The topics she writes about. Makes u stop and think what would u do in that situation
Excellent! I also love The Storyteller and Small Great Things of hers ?

it was the first book i read by her too, i just finished it 5 minutes ago and i loved it i just couldn’t believe the ending i didn’t expect it at all.
Yes, steer clear of the movie. It’s abysmal and doesn’t even make any sense with the plot changes ?
@Tonya Some of her endings are not my favorite, but if you need more ideas… I highly recommend Salem Falls, Plain Truth, The Storyteller & Small Great Things. I like her collection of books, but those are the ones that stand out for me.
@Bethany Thanks for these – I loved The Storyteller and Small Great Things so will take your advice on the other 2 ??
@Bethany thank you i will look into those
Loved it!
It destroyed me, but was a good story!
i agree
Shocking ending! Good book tho.
Loved it too!
Good story, mediocre writing
My favorite book of hers, but it is absolutely heart-wrenching.
Same reply
Amazing book
Excellent
Brilliant
Great‼️
I liked it. I’m a nurse and worked on a bone marrow transplant u it so some of the medical stuff was off a bit but overall good story.
Disturbing. But the book has stayed with me for years!
Loved it …Don’t watch the movie!!!
They completely botched the ending in the movie, I was so upset!
@Kristine I have never seen the movie. The story has stayed with me for years and I didn’t want see it once I heard what they had done to the ending ….
I love Jodi Picoult
Me obv! You borrowed it from me lol! I thought it was a good book but it was also sad and frusterating. Especially the ending. It is so different from the movie
I have the book on my tbr but I loved the movie
Oh, you wait until you read the book. It will make you want to throw the movie into the bin, lol.
How do you pronounce her last name. I say Pee Coo. Rhyming with boo! Am I all wet?
I’ve heard it pronounced P-coult…
That’s how I pronounce it, but who knows if that’s right!
She pronounces it pick OH.
@Peg is correct. It’s pick oh.
You dive into it head-first, and you won’t come up for breath until you finish it.
It’s a good book. I pronounce her name “Pa Colt”
Love all her books
It was OK
Read like a made for TV movie.
Love the book, hated the movie!
Amazing book. Had me gasping.
I hated the movie! It was too different from her book! I loved the book! I really like Jodi piccoult though.
Ending felt rushed and just hated it. I think Jodi is overrated in general.
To each their own. I love Jodi’s writing style, and though the ending brought me to tears, I loved it.
I feel that way about some books as well! I think Sandra Brown rushes her endings! I will have to reread this now and see if I agree!
The mum annoyed me. She got exactly what she wanted, no desperation to save the other daughter at all.
I didn’t like the Mom for the first half+ of the book, but then I started seeing things from her perspective. For 13 years her entire existence was focused on saving her daughter. I think it was just second nature for her to want to continue trying to save her.
It was so good!! I hated that the movie changed the ending.
Same!!
Thats why I won’t see the movie, the ending was heartbreaking but it made the book….imho
It totally made the book!
I read the book some years ago and found it heart-rending. She writes about difficult subjects. I never see a movie that’s based on a book.
I hated it and haven’t read anything else by this author.
Same here.
Loved it!
If you have read one of hers you have read them all.
im getting there im borrowing them from my friend
I would typically agree with you, but not with this one. I felt it riveting and heart wrenching on all levels.
I did read it, and liked it very much. I listened to it on CD as well, and liked that as well!
I read it and thought it was extremely well written.l love all of her books.
I liked the book and many of her books that she writes. For me the movies are not as good as the books.
Loved
Her stories are good.
It sucked. You know why? Fucking deus ex machina. THE MOVIE WAS BETTER. /exits stage right
All her books are great❤️
One of a few I really like. Her first my favorite…songs of the humpback whale.
I did years ago and it still remains as one of my all time favorites. ☺️
Its a big favorite of mine and b/c of this book she has become a favorite author of mine ❤ Of course I love some more than others but have read almost all she has written and enjoyed each!
It’s quite good and thought provoking
I read it not long ago, and it was a real page turner!
Sad
I bawled like I had lost a child!!!!!
I have lost a child and it brought up all of those feelings and more because I really felt for each and every one of the characters and their perspectives.
I have never read another book like it. Are there any other books out there with similar story lines?
Superb & thought provoking.
I love Jodi Picoult just finished Leaving Time and starting Small Great Things. I did read my Sisters Keeper as well❤️
I’m 61% through Leaving Time! It’s getting really interesting!
LOVED Leaving Time!!
I just finished Leaving Time last night! It kept me guessing until the end. What a great book!
