I loved it, all qualities of a good. Humor, sadness, well rounded plot, unexpected ending.

It was my first Picoult book. I loved it and went on to read everything by her after. p.s. The movie ruined the book (as they usually do). If you have seen it already, don’t let it stop you from trying the book.

it was the first book i read by her too, i just finished it 5 minutes ago and i loved it i just couldn’t believe the ending i didn’t expect it at all.

Bethany

Yes, steer clear of the movie. It’s abysmal and doesn’t even make any sense with the plot changes ?

1
Bethany

@Tonya Some of her endings are not my favorite, but if you need more ideas… I highly recommend Salem Falls, Plain Truth, The Storyteller & Small Great Things. I like her collection of books, but those are the ones that stand out for me.

2
Bethany

@Bethany Thanks for these – I loved The Storyteller and Small Great Things so will take your advice on the other 2 ??

@Peg is correct. It’s pick oh.

Ending felt rushed and just hated it. I think Jodi is overrated in general.

1

Katherine

To each their own. I love Jodi’s writing style, and though the ending brought me to tears, I loved it.

3
Denise

I feel that way about some books as well! I think Sandra Brown rushes her endings! I will have to reread this now and see if I agree!

1
Megan

The mum annoyed me. She got exactly what she wanted, no desperation to save the other daughter at all.

1
Katherine

I didn’t like the Mom for the first half+ of the book, but then I started seeing things from her perspective. For 13 years her entire existence was focused on saving her daughter. I think it was just second nature for her to want to continue trying to save her.

1
Courtney

It was so good!! I hated that the movie changed the ending.

It totally made the book!

I read the book some years ago and found it heart-rending. She writes about difficult subjects. I never see a movie that’s based on a book.
