You don’t lose the books you delete. They go to your Amazon cloud drive. Always there to read if you want. If you don’t have a lot of books you might ask Amazon help why it’s doing that. If it is a Kindle that is. I got one with lots of memory and can add more memory because I have SO many books. A Kindle will usually put books on the cloud though and new ones on your main page. :/ I’d ask for help.
I gave mykindle set up so that my home page is my library.In the right hand corner at top. I can see how many books I have as well as how many collections.
I have 2 physical book shelves but need 1 more. I have given away or donated many books I have already read. I now keep my signed books and books I havent read yet in my shelves.

Only 57 on my paper white. I am a very picky reader. I have lots of hard copies of special books and many paper backs. My bookshelves are more piles of books. Not orderly at all. I stack books in mini rocking chairs, in baskets and on the floor… ? ?
I only have 2,868 on mine but I cleaned out a bunch last year. I was well over 4,000 at the time but knew I’d never ready the types of books I had so got rid of them. I only have 143 in the downloaded portion but those are the ones I plan on reading soon!
