5… which isn’t that bad BUT I average about 20 a month so it was low for me… however with 4 kids some months are slow ?‍♀️. I’m not stressing it. I had fun reading and that’s what matters anyway.

With 4 kids?? I have one that doesn’t live with me and don’t read one book a month ?

0
Angelina

@Sonia I’m also a fast reader though. I average 100 pages (depends on the book of course) an hour, so most days I read rather than, say, watch a movie. And sometimes I go weeks without reading anything.

The real question is whether you enjoy your reading time. So long as you are enjoying it, it’s worth it.

0
Sonia

i used to read a lot when I was younger than I went to school and reading textbook didn’t give me time to enjoy a book and then add being pregnant years ago I never recovered.

0
Angelina

@Sonia I had a 7-year stint where I think I read two books total over the whole 7 years. Eventually I got into a point where I finally found a routine that allowed me an hour most days and it sort of became I habit. I haven’t watched tv or movies in months.

0
Sonia

@Angelina that’s most likely what I need to do. Some times I sit on my car between clients and listening to the satellite radio when when I could be reading.

I don’t count.

@Kathie me either

1
Kathie

@Debby I set a goal in the Goodreads reading challenge this year but I keep forgetting to put stuff in. And I really don’t know if I’ll do it again next year because I read for enjoyment not to count how much I read. It seems to reduce the pleasure somehow for me.

1
Debby

@Kathie my thoughts exactly!

1
Clare

Do u all read at bedtime then to read all these in a month! I’m lucky if I manage half a book xx

For some reason I’ve been a night reader but on trips I will read on on plan or car. If I am at the pool I will read but mainly I read at night.

Wow that’s quite a lot. I read before bed usually, but recently I have been a bit preoccupied and havent been able to get into anything. I am planning to get into something soon. I really need that bit of escapism before bed, and that being able to unwind.

Wow Greylin Reuss, that is a lot. You must have a really boring job and a good job too, one you can actually spend time reading in. You should think about becoming a book reviewer, where you can read books for free, as long as you give a review afterwards, the companies involved send three books which have to be read over a period of five to eight weeks. Its not paid, you just get the books for free. The first book you receive, you dont usually get a choice in, but after that, you can choose your genre and which books you would like to read from a list you get sent. I used to do it but found I dont have enough time to do it anymore. Hope you dont mind me mentioning it, just thought its an idea if you are getting through that many books a month. Good for you.

Emma Radley I like reviewing. I always leave reviews 🙂 I’m an author as well with five published books. I know how important those reviews are!

@Greylin Sorry for the late reply, I didn’t manage to get on here last night, I was so tired. I thought I had heard of your name before, it is an unusual name. I will have to look you up again. You are so right, the reviews are really important. I always look at the reviews myself. I dont always go by every single review, as we all have a different way of looking at things and different views on different things. But if ten people are saying the book is absolute rubbish, then its more than likely its not going to be good. One thing I cant stand is these made for the masses books, which leave nothing to the imagination and are so predictable, the book isn’t worth reading, lol. I admire anyone that can write a good book, which leaves the reader not wanting to put the book down. Good to meet you.

Just four novels finished, but I put a dent in some non-fiction that I’ve been picking at, and also read quite a few short stories from various anthologies.
