You need an intervention!! haha. Start a reading program where you pile them all up together in the same place as a reminder every time you go out to buy more. Work your way through them till you get to a manageable level. Start a spreadsheet with some stats to make it (more) fun. I got to 58 when I started mine, it took two years to get it down (because I kept buying) and now I don’t let the stack get over 10-12.

I told him one morning “Honey I’m going to have to quit my job.” He looked shocked & said “But why?” To which I replied “I have so many books on my to-be-read list and I add more every day. I’ll never be able to get through that list unless I quit my job & read full-time.” The look on his face was PRICELESS!! ?
Goodreads is 5,872, but I’m starting to remove those of authors I collect and keep only the ones physically on my shelves (or in my downloads). That way, I’ll know which ones I have when I’m choosing at a book swap or library sale.
3 tall piles on my nightstands and on the floor. So when I get into bed to read, I can scan the titles and choose from the pile if I’m not in the mood for the book I read the night before. For me options are important. I might go 2 weeks reading history and then decide I need something entertaining like a mystery.
I try to keep it under 800 so delete one’s that have been on the list over 10 years….but I add to it all the time. It’s a happy dilemma knowing I won’t ever make it thru them all.
