Depends on the book. Contemporary fiction 6-10 hours. Non-fiction or classic fiction maybe a bit longer.

@Linda omg me too! It’s really weird. The Great Gatsby took me a week but whole hunger games trilogy took four days

2
Linda

Some books are too short and some are just never ending! I loved Gone with the wind so I didn’t mind it so much. 3 months was me “quick-reading”

1
CQuestion author

@Linda I love Les Misérables and it took me six months

2
Linda

You’ve read Les Misérables??? Wow!! That book scares me. I’ve heard it’s a difficult read. Kudos to you. I’ll try it soon(ish)

0
CQuestion author

@Linda it’s not as difficult as it appears to be, just a little long winded

2
Miz

@C it is a lil intimidating but its a good story tho

1
Linda

Yeah! That’s probably why I haven’t picked it up yet. I think I’ll try it soon, though

Depends on the book and my mood. If I can shut my mind off and allow myself to actually read a book it doesn’t take me long.

If it is one I love and holds my interest, I can read 1,000 page book in about a week, depending on appointments, interruptions, etc.

Depends on if it is dense non-fiction, fiction, fantasy, or a biography.

It is easy to read fantasy, sci fi, and a lot of fiction faster. Non-fiction though takes a lot longer if you want the material to be processed and stored in your longer term memory.

Depends on the genre. If it’s something challenging or dry and and technical, a few weeks. If it’s something that I can’t put down, a couple of days.

It really depends on writing style for me. Are we talking a classic like War and Peace (1392p) or Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (759p). War and Peace is twice as long as HP, but I could read Rowling in a couple days tops, whereas Tolstoy would take me weeks, maybe months.

If I have the time and I’m really into the book, 8-12 hours in mostly one sitting. If I’m spreading it out a little at a time, probably a week to 10 days; usually if I’m spreading it I have significantly shorter blocks of time to work with.

Depends on if it busy week outside of work or the type of book, is it a fast paced read that very character focused and draws u in…. or it more of a complex/intellectual book, no judgement I certainly read both and both are great Just different and would be different in terms of time needed

It depends on life, if I am traveling for a vacation I can get it read in a few days but normal life I only read about 20 mins before I go to sleep ? the reason I am now loving audio books! I can get through the those larger books in a few days while I get on with over tasks!

It depends on how good a job the author did on making it readable. With some readers, I can belt out a fairly large book in a day if it holds my interest. In other cases, it could take months in which case I would give it up long before it reached that point.

It depends on the book, the language I’m reading it in, if it’s new or a reread and the amount of reading time I have. I’d say somewhere between one and three weeks.
