Maybe Eliza doesn’t even realize some of the themes she is writing into it?
I think she doesn’t even realize the way her life influences Monstrous Sea. Like Jessica says that part with her and Wallace talking about the meaning of it all, you can see that for her she didn’t notice the theme underneath it all.
She says the monsters are easier when she’s angry. And that her doubt it controlled by one. I think everything is a reflection of her inner turmoil. The monsters are her fears, anxiety and doubts all brought to life. Since we don’t get a whole lot of the plot, it’s hard to say on the actual characters

I felt a good number of the monsters were outside people. Not her family, but the ones who stared.
