I don’t. I usually remember. Everything gets put on shelves together.

I do the same thing

Filipa

same ^ you have the basic “read, want-to-read, currently reading” shelves and then you can create your own. I get lost in there, reading through reviews and finding new books to add to my “to-read” list

Yes! And there are groups who do monthly reading challenges, you can follow your favorite authors, and see what all of your friends are reading that way you have better grasp on new releases! And they do giveaways as well

1
Filipa

and there’s an app. which allows you to scan a barcode for a book and be redirected to it’s page on goodreads, with the reviews, number of pages, genre, etc. it’s great to use when you’re in a bookshop and a book catches your eye but you’ve never heard of it.

0
Filipa

oh and I also have a book journal, I got it for 7€ in a bookshop but I’m sure you can find one on amazon.

I always put a sticky note in my books saying the date I read them,a rating on how good it was, and a separate note to my daughter who will inherit them one day.The ones I haven’t read go in a different bookcase.

I have a notebook with sheet protectors and alphabet dividers.. I organized it by last name of author.. it took me a couple days to do cause I have over 500 books and I look up the series and write them all out so I’ll know what I need

An app called Libib. I scan all the books I own (no repeat purchases) and any books I come across that I eventually want to purchase. No internet or data needed with the app which I love since. I use Goodreads to keep track of my TBR and what I’ve read.

1

Brittany

Love Libib for keeping track of everything I own! I like to shelve by genre and format in a different way than I do goodreads shelves.

Goodreads all the way or I would have a clue and probs just read the same few books over and over ?

I don’t. Because I don’t, sometimes I buy a duplicate book. When that happens I give away or donate the extra book. I would rather spend time reading books than tracking them.

Goodreads is the best. I have so many different shelves. That’s the only way I can keep track of what I have read and want to read.

I use good reads. I also have a 3 ring binder where I go to fantastic fiction to copy and paste and print out the authors list of books. Then I highlight the books that I own of each author. I love fantastic fiction because they have the authors books listed in order by series. They also tell you what books are coming out and when by author or by date for all authors.

1
Reply
Cristy

I didn’t think of printing the lists out on fantastic fiction. You just gave me another grand idea lol

0
Cristy

Can you show me a picture

0
Tammy

I found it’s easier and faster to copy and paste each section one at a time. Otherwise you have to delete the pictures of the books. If you do all the books all at once it picks up the pictures too. I have lists I need to update. I usually write the new books in until a few new books come out before I update and print it out again. If that made any sense…lol

0
Cristy

@Tammy oh it totally does lol that’s a good way, I might take this idea from you lol

1
Tammy

This is how thick it is so far. I have a few new authors to out in there….Lol. Have fun making yours ?

No photo description available.
0
Cristy

@Tammy do you use the plastic dividers to put your sheets in

0
Tammy

I don’t put them in plastic sleeves. I started that way but I was having to take them in and out too many times to highlight the books I would buy or to write and update my lists. I have alphabet dividers.

0
Cristy

Oh ok that would be better also lol

0
Cristy

@Tammy what does omnibus mean

0
Tammy

Its just another way of saying that the collection/series of books is being sold together. Like bundle.

Goodreads! I have only recently gotten into tracking on goodreads and my reading life is so much more organized and fulfilling. I just a mixture of exclusive and non-exclusive shelves. Just added a few more shelves last night that I haven’t started to use yet.

I use Goodreads to track the books I’ve read and want to read (I don’t know why still people use notebooks for this, Goodreads is so much easier! And there’s an app for your phone!) Also I have two lists on Amazon: Books I’ve read and want (I borrowed from a friend or library and want to add them to my personal collection) and books I want to read (most of the books on this list are the same on my Goodreads want to read list)

1
Reply
Lisa

Did you do like 2 wish list on Amazon?

0
Brittany

Yes you can change the names on the lists you put on Amazon. My “actual” wish list on Amazon is all movies because I’m also a huge movie buff lol.

0
Brittany

If I read a book from my books I want to read list I move it to the books I’ve read and want or delete it if I didn’t like it.

1
Lisa

Thanks @Brittany that helps a lot.

I learned a long time ago to check the copyright page, if I’m not sure whether or not I’ve already read a book. Not high tech, but it saves me from buying a book I’ve read.

Yes or check to see if it was ever issued under a different title! I hate it when that happens-ending up buying the same book with different name!
