How do you get over your book hangovers?

I have a bit of a book hangover. I have a couple books waiting for me to read, but I’m not sure I’m emotionally ready. I might give myself one more day before I start my next book. How do you get over your book hangovers?

That’s what I just finished. It was so good and so emotionally draining.

I picked up HP book 1 after I finished The Nightingale. That worked for me.

I read something funny or short. Sometimes I just don’t read at all.

Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series works for me.

I read something very different from my last book, because I find that changing up genres helps get the cobwebs out. It’s kind of like a palate cleanser. I’ve also found that short stories can do the job if you’re not ready to dig into another book.

Start the next book and I usually go for a “beach read”. Fun fast fluff ?

I watch some TV, after an hour or so I remember I like books better and find something I like to call my list reading like a cozy mystery or something like that

When I was going through my VC Andrews phase, I found that I always needed to take a break for a “moral cleansing,” if you will. So I’d switch over to my sci-fi/fantasy books for a bit and then plunge back into that dark VC Andrews hole.

I usually try to just push through. But sometimes you just need a little time.

What did you just read that was so good?

I read magazines. We get them for free from a local library. I always have a pile around. Then I take them to the dentist office, where they have nothing to read.
