Start a convo and ask why if you’re curious enough to care

I feel like they haven’t read the book as closely as they should have and missed things that made the novel worthwhile.

Doesn’t bother me…but I don’t understand why when people don’t like something…they can’t just say they don’t like it, they have to run it down and say it’s badly written.

Mary

I don’t care so long as they aren’t rude about it. Like it’s one thing to say you don’t enjoy a book but when a person starts bashing a book to my face even knowing how much I love a book then I get pissed. Like I don’t want to hear why you hate it. It’s annoying.

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion.

Not everyone likes the same book.

Tell them that they smell like poop.

It depends on the situation.

If the intent was to cause harm to feelings… well, that is just childish and I wouldn’t be friends with someone like that. If it was just him/her letting me know the book sucked I want to know why in case there was something that I was missing. They could be right…the book did suck.

As Daniel tiger would say, “we like different things and that’s just fine, remember to be kind”. The fact that I’m legit quoting Daniel tiger is a good indication on where I am in life ?

I feel good because they don’t know what they’re missing or did not completely grasp the contents of the book.

I’m typically OK with it because my friends have different taste in books than I do. But when we like a mutual book, I get all sorts of excited!

My daughter has given me Turtles All The Way Down by John Green to read…I read Paranormal and fantasy…it’s hard for me to get through….it’s about a teacher / writer with anxiety who suffers panic attacks…she wants me to read it as I suffer anxiety and panic attacks along with my depression…she figures I can relate…told her I read fantasy and paranormal cause I’m usually wanting to escape reality not endorse into it…I’m having a hard time reading it as it’s not my type of book…she just doesn’t understand

I know many get upset and even feel personally offended when someone does not like a book or series that is beloved to them. The way I see it not everyone is going to enjoy the same things and that’s okay.

I’m impartial because everyone has the right to an opinion, and everyone likes different things from a book, I just let everyone say their piece and I tell them mine, if they get annoyed with what I say or owt, I choose not to discuss books with them again, but if they listen, whether they agree or not, I know I can have an interesting conversation with them anytime..

Say a silent prayer for them. Lol (kidding) Everybody should be able to have an opinion, without being made to feel bad about it. It is tough when you really love a book though….
