I’m all over the place. I listen to audio books during my commute (it’s roughly 1.5 hours each way) so I will run through a series or look for authors that are similar to a particular one that I like. I just assembled a sizeable list on Goodreads and then I compare that to what my library has available.

Usually authors I know and like, I will try new authors based on recommendations or reviews.

I used to stick to the same authors and genres. Meeting online bookish friends has given me recommendations that I’d never have looked twice at before… which led to some of my favorite books, and eventually some of my favorite people!

All of the above as well! Maybe that’s why my TBR is continously growing! Lol

Recommendations mostly (I get A LOT at work, plus a lot on here as well), but from the other options you’ve listed as well.

Genre and the ratings. If it is over 50,000 reads and the proportion of likes is atleast 50/1 then I’ll read it. Im addicted to romance 🙂

All the above. Finding a book buddy at work about 10 years ago opened my mind to new genres, then Goodreads and FB opened it still further — and my TBR mushroomed. ?

All of those. LOL I have certain authors whose books I buy whenever they release them, and certain genres I read regularly. But I also find random books to read based on book description or recommendations.
