Three piles- absolutely will read again or sentimental attachments, might read again, and need a new home/have been collecting dust. I’m more likely to pass on books than keep them unless they have special meaning.
I don’t dust my shelves. If I did, I would immediately see a book that needs reading right this minute and abandon all thoughts of cleaning. ? Just kidding, I dust around them.
I don’t reread and prefer to read on kindle. So I get rid of print books I have on kindle too. I basically only keep cookbooks and books I loved and would put in a hall of fame.
I take out a stack of books… install myself in the backyard and thoroughly read the whole stack. That way I’m sure there is no need to throw them out…. repeat till spring cleaning ? is done.. and follow that same procedure with fall cleaning
I have the ones I own and will definitely reread again, then there are the ones that people give me that I read and wont ever read again and then give away or if it’s a lot I sell them…. but that doesn’t happen often. ?
I keep books based on two criteria: Will I read it again? Is it collectible? If the answer to either is yes, I keep it. If no, then in the giveaway pile it goes.
Can’t bear to get rid of books, it was terrible when I sold the house and moved to an apartment, had 2 rooms with four 5 tier shelves in them full of books and had to get rid of most of them
When I take my Christmas stuff down , near the end of December/ early January, I take everything off the shelves and dust and reorganize. Its nice to enter the new year with a new look.
If I didn’t love a book like less than 3 stars on goodreads, I can get rid of it but that doesn’t happen easily. If I love a book, I’ll lend it out or give it to a family member to read. I have an easier time getting ride of clothes from my closet than books from my bookshelf lol ? ??♀️ ?

I take them all off the bookcase and shelves. I clean the bookcase and shelves. I put all the books back. ????
@Angela LOL this exactly my method as well!
yep that’s me too sometimes I’ll reorganize a few to make room for new ones
@Angela same!!
Just keep them
Clean around them
I take them all off, clean the shelves, and then vacuum the books as I put them back to get rid of any dust or spider webs.
Same!

Don’t touch my books. LOL
Swifter, that’s all. Give away those I read and don’t love.

If I have read it and I don’t think I’ll read it again I get rid of it. Let someone else have a chance to read it
Organize & donate ones I’m not keeping, then I hve more room!

If I’ve had it for a year or 2 and still haven’t read it. (I get books from the Goodwill.)
