their concept of what a vampire is and all that is not my cup of tea; the first two books were okay but then its just nay for me tbh

I enjoyed the first couple but felt like they got worse and worse. A lot happens very quickly and there’s little to no character development.

Nay I read up until the 5th or 6th book and no characters grew. They all acted immature. I couldn’t keep going. Luckily if you do start the series is complete. When I was reading it the books had a year between publishing it felt. Its very high school so if that’s what you’re in the mood for dive in and enjoy otherwise I’d pass.

It starts off strong, with good world building, good characters, and great promise..But after a few books it starts to REALLY go downhill, though it was tolerable to me and I still enjoyed it til the last few books.
But it just goes on and on forever. They milked it at the end and you could tell.
The novellas arent bad. Except Kalona’s fall. (this explains the fall of one of the main characters that appears in like book 3 or 4) I recommend avoiding that unless you want to get homicidally angry with the goddess in the series.

Honestly, I’d give it a try if you’re interested, just be prepared to possibly be really disappointed by the end. If you’re a person who cant not finish a series (like me) you might think twice though.

It had so much promise and the first couple books were pretty good. The series could have been so much better.
I totally agree with you. Although I stopped at book 6 and didn’t read the novellas.

0
Rose

It really could have been better. I somehow managed to read every book, though I’m not sure how, and I was really disappointed in the last book. I was hoping they’d at least give it a better ending, but that just felt lazy.
The novellas Dragons Oath, and, I wanna say, Lenobi’s Vow, were pretty good. Then I believe there’s Neferets Curse, which, wasnt horrible, but eh. And Kalona’s fall made me hate Nyx in a way I wouldnt have guessed possible. To be fair, I didnt actually finish it. But thats because I couldn’t. One of the few books I’ve been able to not finish, and not be driven insane.
That book combined with the ending of the series made me want to see her die a horrible death. Considering I loved her in the beginning, thats saying something.

@Rose i really enjoyed it , just long drawn out

0
Rose

I guess there’s bound to be people who enjoyed it through to the end, but I’m certainly not one of them.

Megan

I agree with this. I was super excited about the series for the first few, then struggled through a few more, than totally quit.
