I would reccomend heart shaped box and horns by Joe hill (Stephen kings son). Horns in particular is one of my favourite books.

I’ve got horns on my amazon wish list to buy once I’ve reduced my pile in the house a bit ? I seen the movie and it made me curious cause the written works if usually 10x better and fuller x

Haha! There must have been more than 1 book cos I’m sure I had like 3 in 1. I read one of his about foetus. It was very disturbed. I’ve read assassin too but can’t remember. My memory is terrible. Speaking of horrors I remember loving Desperation by Stephen King….but I couldn’t tell you now what it was about xx

@Clare oooh maybe I just remember the name of the first one as it was slug lol I never got away with Stephen King… Assassin is the one with the dead gang coming back to life & the prostitute giving a dead man a bj lol ? xx

Im not at home now, but when i get back im gonna see what books i have. And more than likely read them all again lol. Over 20 years since I read them. You’d think I’d remember that scene haha. He was good at shock factor. I remember a couple having sex in a barn and getting eaten by the slugs. I think 1 of the later books was set in an underground xx

James Herbert was the author who inspired me to write. The Rats trilogy is still my favourite trilogy of all time.

Stephen King! LOVE all of them! When I was young, I stayed away from King, because I compared his books to the cheesy horror movies. (70s and 80s) Finally, about 2 years ago, I gave them a whirl and LOVED them. I feel ashamed I compared his writing to the movies. He truly is a mastermind! His books are far more than horror that he is always associated with. And the details! Amazing!

Susan Hill is the author of The Woman In Black and a really good creepy one called The Man in the Picture. Love them both. Also, Anne Rice’s The Witching Hour and its sequels..Lasher and Taltos..very deep

I used to be afraid to read stephen king books, until I read bram stokes dracula, revelation!. The drama, suspense and terror. I had goosebumps reading it. After that, mere blood and gore, no problem. Read kings “salems lot” ok, but no real comparison.
