As expected there are proponents of both types of romance fiction. I feel that each sub-genre of romance has its plus points….while the historical romance fiction can be educative as @Seraina has also pointed out, the contemporary variant provides the reader an opportunity to identify with the characters, situations and locales.
I admit I love almost all variations of Romance. There’s even a southern romance comedy series by Dixie Cash. http://www.paperbackswap.com/Dixie-Cash/author/ One of the titles is, “Since you’re leaving, can you take out the trash”
I agree with you?. Although I usually can identify with the characters in historical fiction as well. ( given that the book is well written of course ?)
Historical, I just can’t engage with modern romance as much as the old whimsical style, I just can’t resist the period detail and history surrounding the plot line. 🙂
Both. If I had to choose though it would be contemporary. I love Susan Elizabeth Phillips!
Me too
