Change genre for awhile… it helped when I was reading too many YA, so I started reading a little bit more of Historical Fiction and bam! got my mojo back <3
Get away from the books you had been reading recently . Try comics or movies or do something fun . When you pause to catch your breath ,you will want to read something hopefully . I’ve been reading nothing but National Geographic for the past week and now I’m reading books like crazy .Guess I needed a change .
I go through spurts like this. Sometimes I just can’t get into it, so I focus on other parts of my life for a while. I always come back to it after some time away.
The reading sickness comes & goes for we reading enthusiasts. I had a year when I read only 6 books & a couple of years when I read over 100. Don’t push yourself. If you read before you’ll read again.
Maybe something will gel with how your feeling. Something delightful – Erotic Stories of Punjabi Woman. Something fantastic especially as an audio book – The Alice Network. Something intense and hot – King by TM Frazier. Something light – Pucked by Helena Hunting. Something addictive – Paper Princess by Erin Watt. Something clever – In the Woods by Tana French. Something fun – anything by Dannika Dark and/or Annette Marie.
It’s okay to take a break now and then. I feel this way sometimes as well. I take a break and inevitably something sparks my interest and I am back at it!
It happens to me sometimes. Taking a break and then researching books that sound so interesting, is what gets me back into it then I’m reading a new book every week.
Decide on a subject you find interesting. For me it’s history. Buy or download a non fiction book and start from there. I felt the same a week ago so I downloaded a book on the industrial revolution in Britain – and can’t put it down!! And I’m learning something new!?
Same here…i feel like I’m in a draught. Bought so many new books but keep #bingewatching shows instead or reread old books. Don’t know how to go back into reading new stuff again.
Read something suspenseful…a page Turner… no need for any books that are laborious. Find a salacious novel or a mystery. Short chapters somehow keep me engaged.
Try doing something else. I sometimes get a bit bored of reading so I play video games instead and then I get bored of that so I start reading again. ?
Read a favorite kids book that you used to enjoy reading. That works for me. If you like mystery, read Caroline B. Cooney. My favorite to read is Lurlene McDaniel.
Do something else for a bit , needlework, walking a dog , watching tv , have coffee with friends, remodel the living room. The interest in reading will come back , don’t worry about that
There’s a whole lot of options you can do… I’ve been in slumps more than I can remember and tbh it sucks because I love to read so much. You just have to see what works for you. Either stop reading for a while and do a totally different thing, maybe catch up on something else. Or try a totally different genre, and my all time favourite when I’m in a slump is to re read a favourite book even if I don’t read it from cover to cover. Also comics are a great thing to give a shot. But don’t worry it will come back to you in no time
switch genres….find some books that will rekindle the passion.I was there in the slum for a while too until i have found web novel…wuxia, mystery and even romance….it raised my cravings for more novels
I dont hurry up reading. I let it hang sometimes. Usually often. And comeback. If it gets finished or not. No pressure. It is supposed to be “read” without it.
that is philosophically correct, you are being influence by your environment, you surely can not read because reading is the correct thing to do, find a 400paged good book with 10paged chapters, break after finishing every chapter by the time you reach chapter 30 you will be wanting to finish the book in a single breath, depending on the environment, culture, norms, values, reading for entertainment can be obtuse.
Read something interesting like thrillers or adventures get away from nonfiction

Start reading a little bit every day. Start with a minute, then work yourself up to longer times each week.
I go through spurts like this. Sometimes I just can’t get into it, so I focus on other parts of my life for a while. I always come back to it after some time away.
Take a rest and do something else
Im in the same sad boat i hate that I can not get in to books right now it hurts my heart
I get that way a lot. Just take time and it should come back
The reading sickness comes & goes for we reading enthusiasts. I had a year when I read only 6 books & a couple of years when I read over 100. Don’t push yourself. If you read before you’ll read again.
What do you normally read?
Anything I can
Maybe something will gel with how your feeling. Sometimes we need a break….give it ……automatically you will come back to reading
What about short stories?
I have a similar issue. I suffered head injuries and it’s very hard for me to focus on anything.
@Quinn get well soon.
It’s okay to take a break now and then. I feel this way sometimes as well. I take a break and inevitably something sparks my interest and I am back at it!
I’m sorry
Find your passion, what do you like most
Take a break x
Time for a book on tape!
Sometimes I need to hit a reset button. Find a children’s book or young adult book. That might interest you
Me too :/
It happens to me sometimes. Taking a break and then researching books that sound so interesting, is what gets me back into it then I’m reading a new book every week.
Take a break. Forcing yourself is no way to spark no interest.
Listen to the audiobook.
That happens depending on the mood in life; try some audiobooks
graphic novel? guilty pleasure book? your favorite book to rekindle the love?
Decide on a subject you find interesting. For me it’s history. Buy or download a non fiction book and start from there. I felt the same a week ago so I downloaded a book on the industrial revolution in Britain – and can’t put it down!!
And I’m learning something new!?
Ha, I was like that for a few months. I feel your pain. Maybe a reread of a favorite book?
What? That’s impossible.
I did too. I hate reading slums. I knock out about 10 books and then dont read for a year
If you’ve lost interest in reading, does that mean you won’t read our responses?????
I’m reading them
Try an audio book for when you are driving
I just do different genres and I don’t get bored. I just can’t stay with one.
Take a break and watch movies or series or indulge in any other hobby of yours. That’s what I’m doing.
I have that same problem sometimes.
I know how you feel. Since I lost my dad 8 mths ago I’m just not interested in picking up a book which is not like me at all
Change genres that might spark your interest again.
Good advice but Also check your eyes- if that hasn’t been said, already.
Check my eyes?
The problem could be your eyes have weakened, you need glasses. Unless you found what it is already,
Same here.. Huhuhuh!
Same here…i feel like I’m in a draught. Bought so many new books but keep #bingewatching shows instead or reread old books. Don’t know how to go back into reading new stuff again.
You might try some short stories, easy to read in a short time.
Read something suspenseful…a page Turner… no need for any books that are laborious. Find a salacious novel or a mystery. Short chapters somehow keep me engaged.
Maybe you just need a right book in your current mood to get back on the game ? I’m like that to depending on my mood
Take a break.
Relax. That’s not too bad – you may find other hobbies and when you’ re ready, yo can start reading again
Me too
find out why. there’s always a reason. start from there.
Just remember a book is the cheapest vacation you can buy 😉
Why?
It’s fine u will get the intuition to read to it again. Sometime we all need break from things
Only you can fix this problem. I have an opposite problem.
How can you? There are so many books!
There are many books but it CAN happen and it’s not so rare
Whatever your genre of choice, read a whole other genre.
Re-read a favorite
Do something else for a bit , needlework, walking a dog , watching tv , have coffee with friends, remodel the living room. The interest in reading will come back , don’t worry about that

Find a movie about a book you really loved. Watch it. You’ll be back to reading soon!
Switch genres for awhile.
I have had that happen it was because I needed eye glasses now I picked up reading again.
switch genres….find some books that will rekindle the passion.I was there in the slum for a while too until i have found web novel…wuxia, mystery and even romance….it raised my cravings for more novels
I dont hurry up reading. I let it hang sometimes.
Usually often.
And comeback. If it gets finished or not. No pressure. It is supposed to be “read” without it.
don’t worry about it … nothing to be helped … go with the flow … don’t read …
