If you believe a book is too thick, some activity, other than reading, might work better for you.

Its kinda like someone who likes to jog asking about a marathon. Big books arent for everyone. We should not however discourage people from reading, thats wrong.

I love thick books! I take it as a personal challenge.

It’s a good read! Although I tried to continuously read it and failed. What I did to finish it was read a few chapters a day, a week, when I feel like it. It wasn’t meant to be read continuously as it was published in bits. 🙂 Hope this helps.

I liked it, but it can be slow at times. It’s not a book you rush through, but worth the read I’d say. ?

I bought this version, easier to read as in three volumes.

If a book is a good read, seriously, can it be too long?

It’s a tough read…at least for me. Was a school must read at the time.

It’s been in my TBR list for years. I’ll read it, eventually.

Very dry and a lot of characters to keep track of..but worth it. Though I’m biased I love long books. House of Leaves is another longish book that took me forever to read but was worth it.

It is an amazing work where the main characters grow up in many many ways…it is my favorite but it will take ‘reader muscles’, tenacity. A great way to introduce yourself is to watch the 1972 BBC version with Anthony Hopkins. You will get the characters straight in your head.

It is. It’s a great classical novel but quite elaborate,so if you are quick to catch up and keep up then go for it

It’s fantastic! But very challenging. Keep in mind, though, that it was meant to be read slowly. It was first published in chapters, like many books were back then. I’ve got a copy from the beginning of the 20th century, and it’s a cover that holds some twenty or so booklets that were published over a period of six months. Don’t try to force through it. Read other things as well, and take the time to actually enjoy it — that’s the way it was meant to be read 😀
