Got a copy of every book from Cold Granite onwards. One of my favourite authors, dark humour and quite a few laugh out loud moments in all of his books despite the subject matter. Brilliant in my opinion.

which one are you reading?

RebeccaQuestion author

The missing and the dead. I’ve not started it yet so should I read them in order? It’s the only one I have.

0
Fiona

I’d read them in order to be honest not that it spoils any story as such, its just that the personal relationships are sort of set up in the earlier books.

The one I have is number 8 it seems! Perhaps I’ll get the first one to try.

try somewhere like The Works. I’m sure that was where I bought my first Stuart MacBride book (if you’re lucky then you could get the first three for a fiver lol).

He’s one of my faves too. I told him I don’t like reading them in the winter because he always talks about how cold it is from the wind from the North Sea. Makes me shiver. His books are really good.

Yes several. Great author, thoroughly enjoyable. Each book obviously a different story but a couple of underlining themes going from book to book so better to start as early as possible in the series.

Loved his first ones, but the relationship between the main character McRae and his boss became a bit ridiculous so I stopped reading them, but he has 2 others Birthdays for the Dead and something else with a main character Ash Henderson which were very good

His DS Logan Mcrae books are fabulous! Although I think the latest one was the weakest, and I think it’s time for the series to end. Up until then, though they have been so, so great. Dark and twisted crime mixed with dry, black humour. Wonderful!

Why should the series end a lot of people enjoy them just because you didn’t there’s no need to say it should end

1
Barbara

As I said, I LOVE the series, @Elizabeth. Stuart MacBride has influenced my own writing. It’s just my opinion, as you have yours. I’m absolutely certain that he will continue to write brilliant things, including more DS Logan Mcrae books.
