Fantasy, I guess. They are about a group of historians that can travel back in time to witness key events (ie: Helen of Troy, great fire of London) and record them. I think they are brill. They are funny, thought provoking and clever. They would have made excellent books for youngsters but there are two steamy bits which make them adult reads. But Jodi has said they are considering doing them for younger audiences 🙂
@Bertie I really love them and was hooked from the first book ‘Just one damned thing after another.’ Only one that puzzled me was book two as I didn’t realise they were bouncing between past and present. But once I did, it was great 🙂
It is isn’t it, sadly I get so into them they become real ??. Yes, sort of Dr Who fantasy … ish , superb entertaininment, but so interesting and educational also.
I’ve laughed out loud at a lot of books but I’m not good at remembering all the titles. However, I love Urban Legends, the crazier the better, and parts of “Too Good To Be True” by Jan Harold Brunvand made me laugh.
I can only get Stephanie plum from number 8 onwards on kobo. Is it worth starting from this one. Will it make sense? A lot of you said the earlier books.? Thankyou xxx
Did You Read That Review by Amazon Reviewers. They’re absolutely hilarious. Mr Bison’s Journal by Edward Bison…it’s a Bill Bryson meets Billy Connolly…very funny.
Suck your stomach in and put some color on! What Southern mommas tell their daughters that the Rest of y’all should know too (Shellie Rushing Tomlinson)
Thankyou so much everyone. So many great ideas. I have looked to download Stephanie plum in kobo but they only have it from book 7. Can I start from here or do I need to start from 1 ? Xx
I usually hate happy love stories but I read this one and it had me dying in tears from laughing. Real legit tears! I could not even hold my phone up to read it bc it was knee slapping funny! I’m usually read psychological thrillers so I think I just needed to give my mind a break and read this book.
Sandman slim novels by Richard Kadrey were freaking hilarious. Not for the faint of heart though. Also the tome of Bill has been likewise hilarious. Both have a lot of explicit language, sexual references, and ass kicking (urban fantasy, vampires, the devil, etc.)
I laughed out loud during the first half of The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Then I stopped laughing but have read everything she’s written ever since. Eloquent and intriguing.
