It’s not a series but a stand-alone novel: The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. I couldn’t get enough of it and I don’t read vampire fiction normally!

Monica

Agree completely! And it is now being made by the BBC into a TV series!

1
Lina

@Monica Great!!! Look forward to it! It took her ten years to research and write it…

1
Monica

And then another ten for the movie/TV to be on track! Gives me hope about the one year my own novel is in movie development – the gears for these things move VERY slowly. Also looking forward to it.

For YA, it’s a tie between Amelia Atwater Rhode’s Den of Shadows series and Ellen Schreiber’s Vampire Kisses series. And for adult… the Savannah Vampire series by Raven Hart. Even though it’s incomplete and seemingly abandoned. 🙁

Also, the many, many vamp books by Amanda Ashley are fun reads. Kinda all the same, but fun and steamy.

Honestly I wasn’t a fan of 2 either, Queen was ok, but if you get to it, Tale of the Body Theif is pretty good.
