Mistborn By Brandon Sanderson or The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind or A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab. Written in Red (The Others Series) by Anne Bishop is good. Red Rising if you like sci-fi.

If you like YA then Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas or Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor are both good.

Cadfael — just love the series. The character of Cadfael himself is a Welsh Benedictine monk living at the Abbey of St Peter and St Paul, in Shrewsbury, western England, in the first half of the 12th century. The historically accurate stories are set between about 1135 and about 1145. There are 19 books (I think) and also a BBC television series was made that is just wonderful.

THE FOUNDING by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles. The first novel in the Morland Dynasty Series, a multi-generational saga which spans from 15th century England to the 1930s. (I’ve been a fan of the series – 35 novels – for years.?)
