Paullina Simons, The Bronze Horseman. Any of Margaret George’s books where she’s writing as a historical figure…The Autobiography of Henry VIII: With Notes by His Fool, Will Somers, The Memoirs of Cleopatra, etc…Les Miserables, Terry Goodkind’s Wizard’s First Rule…

Oooh, I forgot about A Discovery of Witches!

1
Erica

I really like Susanna Kearsley’s books too

2
Christle

@Erica I haven’t read any of hers yet, are they Deborah Harkness-level good?

1
Erica

@Christle I mean I don’t think many are that good but pretty close… they are really good and full of magic and history. My personal favorite is called The Firebird.

1
Christle

@Erica I’ll look for it on my library’s website 🙂 If I’m not able to get it from my local branch, I can put it on hold

@Erica My local library branch doesn’t have it, but I put myself on the hold list 🙂 I’m first in line, soI should be getting it a few days from Monday. Though really, sometimes they can take a week to get a copy, even though all of them are checked in, and the farthest branch is only an hour and a half away at the most…

1
Erica

@Christle I think it’s worth the wait

1
Christle

@Erica It usually is, but I’m a very impatient person 😛

1
Erica

@Christle it’s on ThriftBooks for $3.79.
It says it’s #2 in a series but it’s not.

1
Christle

@Erica Hmm…definitely considering it, I have a few more spots where I can fit a book or two on my shelves…

1
Erica

Her novels all kind of flow well together though.. there will be a mention of characters in previous novels. The Winter Sea talks of the same story/ characters but I don’t think it’s something you have to read first. It is really good too though

1
Christle

@Erica Wish I had thought to grab something of hers at the library today! I also like Paula Brackston, but I can’t seem to get into The Midnight Witch at all.

1
Erica

@Christle I don’t think you can go wrong with any of her books!
I love Paula Brackston! The Witches Daughter is my favorite of hers.

1
Christle

@Erica That’s the one I haven’t gotten to read yet ? So I have to avoid the two Paula books my local library has because I don’t like one, and the other is the sequel to The Witch’s Daughter
