Hi all. Need help in finding my next urban fantasy.
Hi all. Need help in finding my next urban fantasy. ??
Needs to be a female protagonists. ??
Something with more action less sex. ?♀️
And less vampire more shifters ????
I’ve already read (and loved)
Jane Yellowrock (faith hunter)???
Kate Daniel (ilona Andrews) ?????
Woman of the other world (Kelley Armstrong)????
Mercy Thompson (Patricia Briggs)???
Can anyone help me in my next big read???
Daughter of Smoke and Bone series.
YES ??? FANTASTIC TRILOGY
It might be a surprising suggestion, but I actually really enjoyed Year One by Nora Roberts. Not her usual but great, it sets the scene for a post-apocalyptic world where magic has just come back into existence. Main protagonist is a witch and the mother of “The One”. Leaves you begging for the sequel, which unfortunately won’t be out until December of this year
I have this on my tbr bookshelf. It’s nice to hear someone enjoyed it.
The Nora Roberts book* ?
Jane True Series by Nicole Peeler
The Others series by Anne Bishop. And if you haven’t read the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews I would recommend it – magic users, not shifters though. For Fae UF you may also like the October Daye series by Seanan McGuire or Cainsville series by Kelley Armstrong. I loved all of these and I’m also a huge fan of Kate, Otherworld and Mercy like you listed above.
Is the others series better than the black jewels by Anne bishope. After book two i just couldnt anymore.
I loved it. It’s pretty different then the Black Jewels, which I also enjoyed but not nearly as much as the Others.
@Jenny thanks, I’ll have to check it out
No worries. Hope you enjoy it
Mercy Thompson series ??
Also, the Fever series. Eep!
How about Dakota Cassidy’s Accidental series? Lots of shifters
No shifters but I really enjoyed the Split Worlds series by Emma Newman.
Tamora Pierce Tortall books
Not so urban once I read your request again. Still great reads
The supernatural prison Series by Jaymin Eve
Dragons and druids
And Mate Finder by Leia Stone -plenty of shifters????
And NYC Mecca Series by both above authors

Less sex?
Other than Game of Thrones how much sex happens in these fantasy stories?
Oh my gosh. Some urban fantasy is rediculous
A lot especially in urban fantasy
Mistborn.
Not necessarily more women but the lead is a woman.
There is also a shifter but in the second book.
She is looking for Urban fantasy, Mistborn definitely is just straight up fantasy.
@Sara oooh.
I missed the Urban part.
American Gods?
Not a female lead but pretty awesome.
Debra Dunbar’s Imp series. The side novels have a lot of sex and weren’t really my thing, but I found the main series great and funny too. The final one just came out last month. PS..I also like Ilona Andrews, Kelly Armstrong, and Patricia Briggs.
Oooh I gotta get the new one!! I love this series!
They have a male protagonist, but the Pax Arcana books by Elliott James are also great reads.
CE Murphy’s Urban Shaman series – fits the brief except for the shifting ,the main character is,well,a shaman!
I love this series and I also love your list, read them more or less together .
Anne Bishop The Others series. I loved this one!!!
Jaqualin Carey’s Agent of Hel series.
Ilona Andrews Hidden Legacy series, and Innkeeper Chronicles.
Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger (hilarious!)
Kylara Vatta series by Elizabeth Moon, sci-fi but I think you’ll like it.
Red-headed Stepchild.
I also like Sharon Shinn, but that’s regular fantasy
Harry Dresden is a guy, but the Dresden Files are so worth the read; same deal with the Iron Druid series.
I forgot one, The Lunar Chronicles. YA and excellent

Sara J. Mass A Court of Mist and Fury!
It’s been so long since I read them, but I think they fit your criteria – maybe Martin Miller’s books?
Mercedes lackey and her diana tregarde books. Mu favourite is Jinx high
Steve McHugh – Hellequin chronicles
Would you be interested in reading my book? It has a female protagonist and all there is are Shifters (or Bloods is what I call them in the book). There is one sexual scene in the whole book. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll send you the link!
I would like to!!
@Jean thanks! Here’s the link to it. It’s more of a YA-Adult fantasy. Tiger’s Blood: By Elizabeth Morris (Volume 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/1539327019/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6gsiBbCZ7J5FE
@Elizabeth I will check it out! I’m reading Simon Green right now AGAIN. But will read your after. Thank you!
American Gods. Not a female protagonist, but an awesome book. And hard to classify, but Urban Fantasy comes close, so there you go.
The Onion Girl by Charles De Lint is amazing.
Dyranda Jones 1st grave on the right! She is my all time favs urban fantasy. Charlie Davidson is my fab character set in New Mexico. ( breaking bad) try her first book! You’ll be hooked!
