Vicous by VE Schwab. Also, I haven’t read it but have heard that the Broken Empire by Mark Lawrence is pretty dark and may fit your criteria.

If you can get over the fact that Malazan book of the fallen is very confusing at first, then you would love that series. It is dark and complex and just awesome!

Is this series only an ebook? I can’t find any physical copies online – only kindle or ebooks.
Granted I haven’t gone to my local book stores yet to look, only online. Thanks for the suggestion!

Barnes and Nobles, at least in my area has them. Not sure about where you are located if they have any copies in store.

The Malazan Book of the Fallen. Extremely dark and full of death.
