I’ve read them all. My favourite author and my favourite cop. But reading is subjective. I think they are brilliant, and I would advise you begin at the beginning if you give them a whirl.
@Tony thankyou, what about the Lincoln lawyer series? Would you suggest reading all his books in order of publication or just the Harry Bosch ones?
I have been told that they kind of tie in.
@Danial I’d say read his books in order other than the standalones – which you can read at any time. So yes, where a Haller book comes next read that as they do tie in at various points. The Haller books are very good, though quite different.

Love them, but love the TV show more. Titus Welliver is a brilliant Bosch.
He’s a great Bosch. Not the image I had in my head, but he’s made the character his own. I also love the way they mash up a few novels together to create a unique storyline.
I love police procedural novels so these sounded really good, just thought I would ask for opinions as it is a huge series to dive into.
I’d say go for it. Start with The Black Echo and feel your way in. Harry can be quite abrupt and less than charming, but he gets the job done.
They are the standard by which I judge everything else.
I have read a lot of them. Very readable.

@Danial It is better to read them first, I’ve been reading his books since the first Bosch “The Black Echo” came out.
I have read all of his books. The middle Bosch ones are better I think. The Poet which is not a Harry Bosch novel is his best book in my opinion. Very focused and sharp.
The Poet is in my top 3 books.

Absolutely love Michael Connelly and the Bosch series. Encourage you to read the series starting at the beginning. Hope you enjoy–worth the read.

Absolutely superb
The books are worth reading. I think they are the best work Connelly has done. (Former librarian here !). Amazon does a great series also. Acting is super.
He has a new true crime podcast also, it is very interesting.

My daughter has read every one an waits with baited breath for the next one.
She watched a couple of episodes of Bosch and said that Titus Weller is not Harry Bosch.
She loves the books so much that our Bosch vacuum cleaner is called Hieronymus.

They are probably the best police based crime novels that I have read.
In my opinion the the first few were terrific, But Bosch seems to have gone past his sell by date.
