My mother-in-law said she absolutely could Not put it down, finished it in three days including time at work, might be easier than its daunting size let’s on LoL. I have it in hardback and it does indeed scare me. Gonna need to sit at a desk to read it. ????

My first King was The Shining in 9th grade. It laid the groundwork for a lifelong love of his storytelling. I would not start with one of his longer novels as it may be off putting if you are not yet used to his style. The Shining is the perfect length and the perfect example of what Mr. King brings to a the table in a story. Happy reading!!

I just started my first King book, I went with Salems’s Lot.. I’ve read two hours this morning and got mad when I had to put it down because for some reason my kids needed food… I’m joking, I love my kids but couldnt they have slept in this morning

Bag of Bones was my favourite. But I’ve loved almost everything I’ve ever read by him. The only exception that comes to mind is Lisey’s Story. So I wouldn’t start with that one. It’s the only one I never finished.

I’ve only read one book of his so far, The Body, which is more of a short story. I read it because I loved the movie thay was based on the book (Stand By Me). The book was great. Though I still have some of his other works on my tbr shelf.

He has quite a few good starter books. I think Carrie, Firestarter, The Green Mile, or Misery are good to start out with. Not too long and will make you fall in love with his writing

The Green Mile series. You can usually find all the books in compilation. If you read the first one & want to take a break, you can.

There’s 6 books in the series. They’re short & in my opinion, “read quickly.” I personally loved it

My first one was Firestarter. It was dark, creepy, and at times terrifying and violent (I was younger when I read this) but I thought it was a good start to King!

Until recently I had never read a Stephen King novel. I read “Mr. Mercedes.” and followed it up with the second in the trilogy, “Finders Keepers.” Both were great reads. So I recommend them both.

That was a really good trilogy!

It but it’s so damn long. The Shining. Misery. Both good and shorter

Ok, I’m a lifelong constant reader!!! Salems lot was my first in 1980. It started my love of reading and I never looked back. No regrets. I would start with salems, shining, misery, or maybe even Dolores Claiborne. If only to set the foundation for the more intricate, larger novels like the stand( my personal favorite) under the dome, and it…

If you’ve seen any of his movies, you could always start with the book that goes with it, you’ll already have an idea of the story, but the books are always so much more in depth 🙂

Start at the beginning. Carrie is a smaller book too. Do not attack one of his larger reads to start. Work your way down his lists from the beginning

If you want to start with something short that isn’t intimidating, start with Carrie. That’s what I started with but it’s up to you. I’ve only read 3 of his books so far.

Stephen King is a talented writer. Although I have not been that ‘taken’ with his horror novels and have liked his short stories more – the man can write and I want to revisit some of the books I ‘thought’ I didn’t enjoy.

If I remember, I got involved in Christine.
