Chicken soup. They got me through hard times.
David Michie – The Delai Lama’s Cat. A three book series. Also the Queen’s Corgi. All are uplifting and fun to read.
Kitchen Table Wisdom. I reread it every few years and it speaks to me.

Depends on where you are in the healing process, where the scab has formed on the soul. If you’re still angry read Small, Great Things by Jodi Picoult. If you have been angry, but are no longer angry then try The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. If you’re hurt/depressed, but you haven’t gotten angry yet, then A Prayer for Owen Meany is a good choice. If sexual situations are not an issue for you, then Stacking in Rivertown is absolutely one of the best books I’ve ever read. I cried twice reading that book, and it was the cure for what ailed me both times I read it.
