Hey guys ? any Stephen King fans here? Was wandering what your favourite book of his was and if anyone has read his new one? Xx
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is one of my favourites, not read his new one yet, struggling to get into the Dark Tower series atm but gonna persevere x
The Stand is my favourite!!
I’m a huge Stephen King fan, his latest one was great. I can’t really name a favorite, they’re all good!
I’ve read misery only… I didn’t love it. I thought it was a bit exaggerated. Like the wanton cruelty I mean…. A bit far-fetched… Perhaps because I hadn’t tried this kind of stuff before
Oh gosh, that is like asking me which of my 60 children is my favorite. If I really had to go there…The Shining followed by Doctor Sleep.
But I started at the beginning (Carrie) and worked my way through.
Definitely the Stand … just reading the second book of his trilogy Finders Keepers which is really good.
Wanting to start this series, how was the first one?
A REALLY good read xx
and the third one is brilliant too! x
Convinced! Just ordered all 3!
I’ve just started the 3rd, have really enjoyed these
I want to read that trilogy too.
The Talisman followed by The Stand … just finished The Outsider, which went very quickly … I hadn’t read anything new since Dream Catcher, wanting to read the Hodges series next
The Hodges series is really good … on my second book xx
I think Stephen King is a fantastic writer. My favorite work of his is a tie between The Outsider and IT.
The Stand and 11/22/63. I also like insomnia a lot. X
Reading insomnia at the moment! I love it x
I’ve only read the stand, the shining and dr sleep so far. Really really enjoyed them all. I have needful things downloaded and will be getting more ??
Love Needful things!!
It
Insomnia and Needful Things were 2 of my favs!
Which new one?
The Outsider.
@Sarah oh yes! I just finished it. I quite enjoyed it, great characters and typical darkness of kings writing. I would definitely recommend it
Pet sematary and needful things and thinner were my favourites
Pet cemetery was terrifying lol. I really enjoyed it.
Misery, Rage, The Stand
Needful Things is my favorite but I’ve never read one I didn’t absolutely love!
The green mile
The Stand, Talisman and The Shining were my faves. Christine was also very good. CUJO, not so much, Pet Cemetery was freaky,
The Green Mile and Pet Sematary.
I did read The Outsider. I didn’t find it to be anything amazing. It was a fun read though.
Loved The Green Mile; it was first published in installments, and waiting for next was torture!
I like desperation and the regulars the shining was a good read too
My favorite is 11/22/63
The Stand! Have read it several times!
I read the Outsider. It was very good.
My favorites are Misery and 11/22/63
The Shining and The Stand. Oh, and Under the Dome.
Needful things
Gerald’s game
It
The Stand. I haven’t read him in a while but just started Duma Key today.
Green mile
I’m reading The Outsider now and love it!!
Green mile
Misery
The Stand
I’ve read the outsider. It was good, but a little strange toward the end. Enjoyable all the same.
I’m reading 11/22/63 right now and I can’t put it down. I think this might easily be my favorite of his. I have not read his new one but hear it’s good.
IT,The Stand and Salems Lot
Green mile and Misery are my favourites
The outsider was good! Slow to start but a great story. Original
The Stand hands down.
Rose Madder!
Ooh I have that one on the bookshelf waiting to be read ?
Yes!!! Thoroughly enjoyed!!!
I’ve read it probably 12 times and it never gets old. At least for me. I want to get a back tattoo of the picture.
I really liked Desperation.
The Stand is fantastic
big King fan. I love: The Dead Zone, The Stand, The Shining & Dr. Sleep, all Dark Tower books, Bag of Bones, & so many more! he has so many great short stories as well.
I have read The Outsider & loved it. just a caution: a characters backstory contains spoilers for all three books in the ‘Bill Hodges trilogy’ (Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, & End of Watch) if you haven’t read them first.
Looks like I need to find myself a copy of the stand ?
The Stand and he’s from my home state of Maine. I have an autographed copy of Carrie plus I’ve met him several times.
It’s a struggle for me to say a favorite between The Stand and The Talisman. Both are tremendous!
The shining
Have you read dr. Sleep? It’s the sequel to the shining.
The Stand
Love King. Just finished The Outsider. Not his best. Uneventful. My favorite books of his are probably the shining , 11/22/63, green mile
The Dark Half, Desperation & It I think are my favourites, I love them all though!!xxx
Green mile & bag of bones have to be my absolute favs but loved misery, needful things, the shining, pet cemetery and rose madder. Hated the ending of It (and hated the films even more). There are so many more that I’ve enjoyed, these are the ones that spring to mind! He’s one of my all time favourites❤️
Insomnia is my favourite, and I really loved The Outsider.
Pet Sematary
But I haven’t read Stephen King since the 80’s
Would like to read one of his latest ones
The Green Mile. His latest The Outsider is a great read
The green mile is one of my all time favorites
The Stand (the original abridged, only 800 pages)
I love Stephen King. Such a clever author. My favourite is Dolores Claiborne.
He’s my favorite author!! I have 56 of his books so far, most in hardback. It’s so hard to pick a favorite, but “11/22/63” is at the top of the list. “Insomnia” was also an amazing book. “The Outsider” was the last one I read and it was a great read, also.
Only another 40 or so to go! Have you read the Stand yet?
I’m reading insomnia now and it’s my favourite so far. Admittedly I’ve only read 5 lol ?
Did you read different seasons? That’s another on my bookshelf x
@Amy-Daisy yes. I have read almost everything including Danse Macabre, which is very interesting and I just found u a free download of it, I http://www.usydphotosoc.org/book/danse-macabre-stephen-king
@Sallee thank you ?
@Sallee no I haven’t. It’s on my shelf though ?
Sleeping beauties. Haven’t read the next one yet, but it’s in my TBR pile
Carrie and The Shining are my favorites
I have a pile waiting to be read. Loved The Shining, Salem’s lot, the Stand
Talisman
The Stand and The first Dark Tower
Green Mile and 11/22/63.
I love his classics. The newer stuff ain’t that good. Very disappointed with the ending of Cell. The Dark tower series First book really good then downhill from there on.
I also liked his Richard Batchman (His psudoname in the early 80’s) books.
Thinner, The Running Man, The Long Walk.
Ooh yea I was wandering about this and was hoping someone would mention it ? I did some research and noticed he wrote under a different name for a while. I don’t suppose you know why? Are the books the same style of writing?
He was in a transition period between publishers and was trying to see how an unsigned author could get a publishing deal from the rival publishers. He failed twice. Then Hodder and Stroughton took him on and he’s used them ever since.
Amy-Daisy Hunte 8 years he wrote as himself and Richard Batchman. 77-85. If I remember rightly.
@Ian thanks ? did you happen to read any of the books he wrote with Peter Stroud? I have one on my bookshelf.
@Ian a lot of people also guessed it was him. I have to say that thinner was very SK.
Cujo – bloody terrified me…
The Stand my all time favourite but so many amazing ones. Needful Things Insomnia and 11/22/63
Eyes of the Dragon
Gerald’s game is my fave
Dolores Claiborne is my fave
The Stand, by a long margin!
I really liked sleeping beauties which was co-wrote with his son
Salems Lot, The Black Tower Series…must reads
I have a lot of SK-favorits, but “On Writing” (which is my bible) and “The Long Walk” are the ones I have read the most times.
Really enjoyed “ On writing “
@Kathleen Every writers bible. 🙂
Christine
I’ve been reading him since the first book. I don’t think I’ve read a Stephen King book I haven’t liked. Some more than others, but I really like his books a lot. The Stand is really good, so is Insomnia, and 11/22/63, Salem’s Lot, Needful Things, Pet Cemetery, Cujo, etc. Let’s just say all of his books 🙂
Ooooh cujo ❤️such a long long time ago that I read this!
Christine was also really good, one of the first I read of his. The Stand I think was the first book of his I read, and that encouraged me to read all his others. But not so much his latest stuff, other than 11/22/63 which was great
Just discivered 11/22/63 on husbands extensive book shelf. I’ll try it – trouble is it is a huge hardback and I read mostly paperbacks in bed…. Hope it is worth it.
It very good. Different
I stopped reading the DOME because I had it only in hardback and was just too heavy (literally) to read!. Pleased that I had 11.22.63 in paperback
He scares me. Very creepy
Salem’s lot made me believe in vampires ?
Aren’t they real?
Salem’s Lot was the first Stephen King book that I read and the one that started my obsession.
