Is it considered a stand alone? I thought it was a prequel to Lord of the Rings? I loved the Hobbit. Read it three times!

Good question. I always said standalone but not too sure what most would think. It’s the same world and has some overlapping characters

It was written long before LotR was even thought of, so deffo a stand-alone! Although obviously the later series builds on it ?
