Omg I love all of those.
He may like His Dark Materials, I read them around his age although the second one The Subtle Knife -although not a big book, its quite heavy and complicated to read but I defo recommend The Northern Lights. +The Book of Dust which is a prequel.
Young James Bond by Chris Higson.
The Cherub Series.
The Hunger Games.
Kernowland.
Heroes of Olympus/Magnus Chase/Trials of Apolo/The Kane Chronicles/The Son Of Sobek etc by Rick.
WitchWizard
Skulduggery Pleasant
The Divergent Series.
The Mortal Instruments.
Narnia Series.
Inkheart.
House of Secrets.
How To Train Your Dragon.
Artemis Fowl.
Young Samari.
Beast Quest.
Secret Breakers.

I hope this gives you some ideas. I know its alot but I read loads (way more than this) when I was his age because I wasnt allowed any type of electrical device (i.e. phone, tablet, computer) till I was 15/16. I throughly recommend all of the above.
