Have you started a book, couldn’t get into it, so you gave up on it, o lot to get a review that changed your mind? How did it work out?

I can’t recall ever doing this. But there have been a few times I’ve assumed I wouldn’t like a book, author, or genre, but decided to give it a try after reading good reviews. Or if a friend has recommended it. There’s been mixed results lol. Sometimes I’ve enjoyed it. Sometimes not so much (The Bridges of Madisin County…..)

This is an author I have loved and adored since high school! I have all of his books, and loved them all, until now. He’s got another one coming out this year, and I’ll get it but if is anything like this last one, ☹️ I might be done with his work.

I have experienced that! I’ve given up on a few series I used to love that got formulaic or just boring. Life’s too short and my TBR pile is too big to read authors out of habit rather than because I still enjoy them!

Most Definitely… and it does tend to put me off on the author, after a few zonks. I also will come back to books I stopped reading, if it was just that I was not in the mood for a particular story at the time I started the book.

I’ve had to give up on a few books. I put them at the end of my to be read pile and a year later I’m wondering why I could not get in to this good book

There are quite a few I’ve started, didn’t like, stopped and then came back later and enjoyed. Must be a mood thing!

I stopped reading a book after a few pagers because the punctuation and grammar was so poor I couldn’t tolerate it.
