Yup. I’ve written a few books myself and couldn’t see a future with any man who refused to read them, or claimed he didn’t like reading fiction at all.
@Janey yes, I’ve met people who say “I only read non fiction” and I’m like “that’s nice, I’m glad you enjoy them!” And they’re like “what do you read?” “Mostly fiction, fantasy, YA” then they get all snooty. ?
Oh, not just males. I work with many people who only read certain genres. I am so glad my husband is a reader. Or, at least he gets it, and reads a book when it peaks interest.
I went on a date years ago. He was really nice. We were having dinner and I said, ‘What do you read?’ He said, ‘Oh I don’t. I think I once read a footballers biography once’. I’m afraid my interest was lost. ?
My other half doesn’t read. He’s a gamer tho and he’s forever telling me to have a go, play a game. I say you read a book! Ooh no it’s boring. I ‘ll fall asleep. How can a book be boring. The little film that plays in your head while you are reading and creating a world is so much more detailed and amazing then a film or game. To each their own tho ?
My friend thought I was wasting money buying books with birthday money, she thought I should buy some really good perfume! My books will last a lot longer than her perfume, and I might read the books more than once!
Not really as each to there own i used to be like it with my bestie as she is a proper book nerd saying you brought loads and didnt read as couldnt get into it just thought it was boring this year i actrally started to read properly and now i do umderstand but think its bit odd saying your annoyed if someone dosnt read so what aslong as thet let you read i dont see a problem ?
@Beau i dont mind people doing the challenge as they like it but me personally be worrying not hitting the mark and wont enjoy the books and take them in but i do like reading or seeing how others do
@Kirsty I don’t worry about it all, I do the one on Goodreads and you can change the target as much as you want. Doesn’t ruin my enjoyment of reading at all
Beau Chalmers I do not understand the reading challenges at all. IMO, this way of thinking runs counter to the spirit of reading. This does not make me a bad person. Many times people are put off by an alternate opinion rather than by an actual insult. I do though hope that you enjoy your reading regardless of what motivates you.
@Christina I can see both sides of it! Yes, the “pressure” of completing the challenge can damper the spirit of what reading should be; however, I did my very first reading challenge this year and I have read with more regularity than I ever have before. It gave me structure and motivation to continue reading whenever possible. I am also guilty of re-reading the same books and not picking up new ones. The reading challenge this year prompted me to stop doing that & it opened me up to so many amazing books that have improved my life for the better this year ?
I agree! I’ve been seeing that attitude quite a bit, especially towards the end of the year as people are talking about the challenges more. For me, doing the goodreads challenge made it more fun and really motivated me to keep reading! I was basically a non reader for about 20 years so I needed the motivation!
First off..I live in Alabama. I do feel like a lot of the ignorance and racism is due to people here not reading. So, indirectly, yes…I am annoyed at those that do not read.
I have but my annoyance tends to come from the lack of using proper words on a near constant basis, as it would come just as much from the lack of literacy.
I get annoyed with people who never read but are very opinionated about issues. If they read a bit more they would be better informed, understand the nuances of a topics and have some empathy perhaps.
Yes! My aunt never reads as she proudly told me this past week when she saw a picture of my daughter holding up the three books she got for Christmas. Then told me she read the “Fifty Shades” series and how they were the best books ever written. Ehh, at least she read something.
Yup my sister and now she had a limited vocabulary and makes up words all the time to make up for it and Im like if you read you’ll get a whole host of new words and phrases. Also she has a crap imagination.
Yes I believe so. The only thing she wants to read is David Walliams. But I suppose thats better than nothing. I think my brother is a bit better, I can see him reading if only he’d get off his xbox. Hes only read Beast Quest.
@Erika true I also feel they must try and the reason for this is books have not only been a pleasure but helped me get through the worst times in my life.
No.. I do not.. others I know have talents I do not have.. they create things: quilts, jewellery, Knit, crochet, paint, definitely read craft books. Take courses at craft college.
@Linda My best friend doesn’t read either and sometimes it’s annoying that I can’t share so much with her, but this question has a light tone, obviously we would never really judge that harshly ?
You know, I’m a sixty-four year old grandmother living in Alabama. Because of reading, I can (somewhat) understand the struggles of a modern day young woman, the fears of a black man and the troubles of a gay couple. I do not pretend to know all their suffering, but at least, I have a clue.
You are the coolest grandmother in Alabama! As a gay man it means a lot that people will read books to gain an insight in to what a lot of my community goes through. Thank you for reaffirming my faith in humanity.
Only when they act superior because they don’t read and try to belittle my reading. One of my best friends is adamant he doesn’t read… he has the biggest manga collection I’ve ever seen.
Not exactly. Everyone has different hobbies. I love reading and gaming, but I can understand those things might not appeal to everyone, just like watching sports or, I don’t know, doing puzzles hold no interest for me. I do wish some more people would give reading a try though. It does bother me a little bit when a person tells me they hate reading, but then they tell me the last time they read a book it was for a high school class 15 years ago. I really want to tell those people that required reading for a class is nothing like finding a book that interests you and reading it for fun, and that just because they don’t like one kind of book doesn’t mean they won’t like all books.
@Anna ya somehow I also feel like if they actually read something that they are interested in, it has the potential to change their lives forever, but that said, of course each one has their hobbies and I am so clueless as to gaming that I am almost an illiterate in that area, but can’t help wanting everyone to read nevertheless ?
I would hate to comment that someone else’s hobby wasn’t worthwhile because I hate it when someone questions why I always have my head in a book! We are all different and enjoy different things.
I get annoyed with my children bc they no longer read…and they have an amazing library here at home…which I continue to add to, despite their unwillingness to read at this teenage time of their lives!
The only reason I would ever get irritated that someone doesn’t read, is the fact that I wanted discuss the book I just read with them and they’d never even heard of it lol. Otherwise no, it doesn’t bother me.
Nope we all got our own hobbies. I will get annoyed if someone makes fun of me reading or if they act superior for being a reader or a reader of the classics. Anyhow i dont care what others do, i love it and thats all that matters
To each their own, however I DO get annoyed when non-readers try to tell you that you have too many books. My mom tells me all the time that she used to be a big reader when she was younger, but isn’t anymore and she is ALWAYS harping on me about my book hauls.
@Lindsey I have a story that came to mind , my mom tells me that when she was pregnant and used to go to the park she used to marvel at those who read and had their noses in a book. She says she had made a silent prayer that her children should be readers, all her three daughters turned out exactly like that. Sometimes when she sees us addicted to our books, she says jokingly that one should be careful what one wishes for!? sorry long story but just remembered it so decided to share.
@Lindsey, my father and brother are the same way. I’ve told them, I’ll give away my books when you guys give away movies (dad) or games ( brother). Now it’s because they’ve help me move and most boxes are books. Though I do understand because those boxes are heavy!! I still won’t do it but I understand. ?
Yes, because he told me that only nerds read. I got over really quick because I was reminded by the show The Big Bang Theory, the show is #1 because nerds have become cool. I am a cool nerd!
No.. but I did get into an argument with someone that kept asking ‘how do you know this and that’ and still wanted to argue that I was waisting my time reading…
@Dorine I had a coworker recently ask me what got me into reading so much. (I read when there’s down time at work) anyway, I told her what got me into reading and why and that she should try it. She said “no thanks reading seems lame and boring, I’d rather watch movies” So I told her reading books is like watching movies in your head with your own imagination and 9 times out 10 the book is always better than the movie! Maybe what you lack is imagination and that’s lame and boring ???♀️ and I walked away ?
I’ve grown irritated by my brother’s taste in reading, but only once or twice. Mainly, he likes books based in reality with sad endings, and I’m the one all about fiction, fantasy, and fairy tale endings.
Nope never, to each his own. But I have gotten annoyed when a coworker of mine said reading was lame and boring and that she’d rather watch movies. So as I mentioned in a comment above I told her “reading is like watching a movie in your head with your own imagination and 9 times out of 10 the book is always better!” I then told her “maybe you lack imagination and that’s lame and boring” ???♀️
No, not at all. It’s their choice if they want to read or not. If someone doesn’t read at all then who cares. That’s their choice. We can’t force someone to read or tell them that they have it. Does it affect you if someone doesn’t read? No it doesn’t so don’t let it bother you.
Only when they are negitive about readers. Like why should i read when the movie will be out soon. Or how can you waste your time like that. Those bother me. But if they say they dont read because they dont like to then they just havent found the book that will help them.
@Sheri or they see you reading a book and ask what you’re doing. My husband did that to me, and when he asked what I was doing, I simply said milking a cow. Lol
It’s hard when your spouse/SO doesn’t read. I look over to talk to my husband about a book I am currently reading and have to stop because he doesn’t read.
I was behind a woman in Costco who told the cashier she hadn’t read a novel in 30 years. I was absolutely speechless and couldn’t believe she was pronouncing it like a badge of honor.
I’m not surprised by that…I barely read a novel for about 20 years (besides ones I had to for school) and I just started reading again last year. People have different priorities. Maybe one day she will start reading!
I get annoyed with my family sometimes. The only one in the house that is a reader is myself and my youngest sister. One of my little sisters is a seasonal reader, and another of my sisters refuses to read a book. My mum sometimes picks up a book, but she’s too busy and my dad can’t really read anymore because his eye sight is getting bad. However, whenever I want to really fangirl about something I can’t because my family has absolutely no idea what I am talking about.
My husband doesn’t like to read but plays video games. I read while he plays video games. It works for us. Now for friends, if I bring up a book and they don’t read I get irritated because they make snide comments. Just because I enjoy reading doesn’t mean my life is boring.
Granted, variety is the spice of life. But, think about it for a moment. How wonderful would this world be if we were all read and learned and had important information to share instead of gossip?
My wife used to love reading, but after her surgery she finds it difficult to hold up a book, while I use all kinds of props for books. To each their own.
Natalie Rainsford Edmonds guess I just don’t see it as an either or sort of deal. One of the wisest and most creative men I ever knew was illiterate. Besides, some of the more active gossips I know are readers.
I only get annoyed when they complain about my reading habits ? Like, ya I finished that book in a day and didn’t get anything else done. I’d like to see you do that on your day off.
I’m also an English teacher. Luckily I teach at a girls school where the vast majority enjoy reading. I get a real buzz when I teach a novel and a reluctant reader says it is the first book she has actually liked. I’m then able to suggest some more.
Kudos to English teachers. My 8th grade general English teacher taught me the love of reading; to this day, books and getting lost in legal or psychological thriller is my life’s passion
That would be like someone get mad at me because i dont enjoy their hobby. Its not my problem if they dont educate themselves. And that means more books for me.
Not often, though I have met some very obnoxious non readers who are insulting about reading, that annoys me, but its mostly because I don’t really understand the nastiness or why some folks sneer at reading but I tend to feel extra lucky after dealing with said people because then I feel like I have a secret treasure that they will never find or enjoy… pity for them.
No but I always wish everyone loved reading as much as i do. For example my husband isn’t into reading and I wish he was. It’s s good example for our kids.
Yea. My boyfriend is always complaining about being bored at work because they have a lot of breaks. I tried telling him to bring a book but he’s not a reader.
Only when I am criticised for reading … made to feel that the time spend reading is wasteful …. told to do something better with my time than read …. that I will never learn anything from books … and not left alone to read like I am harming someone by reading …. yes I have had to put up with a very form of criticism just because I can entertain myself with a book … it’s a wonder I still read let alone enjoy delving in to a book …. my family can understand why I read … they never will …. so just leave me alone as I am not hurting anyone by sitting reading ….
As @Louise mentioned, I do get a bit annoyed when people question why I read, I was reading on my lunch hour once & that was deemed as rude when I wasn’t sitting with anyone & it was my personal time?I have people saying why read when it’s boring, my answer remains the same, “read a book yourself & then decide, if it’s boring”?
It’s not worth it getting yourself worked up over these people. If they consider your reading as a personal insult, it’s their problem. Also remember some people get uneasy when they see someone deep into a book–it scares them.
I used to be told that I was anti-social because I would rather sit and read a book at lunch then converse with others. But seriously, I have no interest in the Bachelor/Bachelorette and I definitely do not “Keep up with the Kardashians.
My parents were not readers, and I feel like they missed so much in their lives. They lived in the same city, in the same house, and never took a vacation. Reading would have been such a good way for them to have seen the world.
@Michele I feel the same way about my mother, she can’t move around much now but is otherwise ok and I always feel like if she read it would have been so much better for her to pass time.
Yes. I know a few people who have never read a book because “it’s a waste of time” ?
@Rachel how terrible ?
Sometimes they also say “what’s the point?” I just don’t get it!
Seems male bookworms are a dying breed these days!
Oh, not just males. I work with many people who only read certain genres. I am so glad my husband is a reader. Or, at least he gets it, and reads a book when it peaks interest.
My new boyfriend loves to read too! Lucky us *high-five*
Yes! It’s like watching someone saw off their own nose and complaining that they never smell anything!
I went on a date years ago. He was really nice. We were having dinner and I said, ‘What do you read?’ He said, ‘Oh I don’t. I think I once read a footballers biography once’. I’m afraid my interest was lost. ?
@Lynsey ?
Not really … Some people educate themselves by becoming street smart .
@Shawn true that??
@Claire my husband doesn’t read much either but I am biased there, he is excused! Especially bcos he supports my reading so much??
@Claire My hubby doesn’t read as well. But he supports my reading totally. Buy me books, built my library and so on.
@Kerstin and that is so endearing ?
I have had ridiculous arguments with my nephew about it but only as he was derogatory about reading and readers but we’re over it now! He’s 18!
@Sonya ya to each his own I always agree but if someone makes derogatory comments about reading or demeans the habit, I get aggravated ?
My friend thought I was wasting money buying books with birthday money, she thought I should buy some really good perfume! My books will last a lot longer than her perfume, and I might read the books more than once!
@Maureen yessss!!
No but I get annoyed with people who don’t like you doing the reading challenges. Live and let live is my motto, lol x
Doesn’t ruin my enjoyment of reading at all
@Beau i would thats why i dont do it and i have other hobbies so need to make time with all of them i werent saying challenge is bad
@Beau it is I guess but sometimes it does annoy me if they detest reading, but well that’s my opinion ?
@Christina I can see both sides of it! Yes, the “pressure” of completing the challenge can damper the spirit of what reading should be; however, I did my very first reading challenge this year and I have read with more regularity than I ever have before. It gave me structure and motivation to continue reading whenever possible.

For me, doing the goodreads challenge made it more fun and really motivated me to keep reading! I was basically a non reader for about 20 years so I needed the motivation!
@Meghan if it works for you… why fight it? I wish you happy reading.
@Sona I never said it made you a bad person. It doesn’t make me a bad person to enjoy a reading challenge. I love reading, always have, always will
@Kirsty I know you werent
Yes
Yes. I get annoyed when people don’t read.
Not as much as when people are annoyed with me for reading too much! To each their own
@Vzqzz I understand the feeling.. People get irritated with me too when I read
@Vzqzz Exactly
@Vzqzz ??
@Monisha ?
No. It’s their preference, even though they are missing out. I do get annoyed when people make comments about my reading though.
@Anita that’s always what I think you know especially with my own family, I feel that they are missing out on so much!
My fiancé has never read an entire book all the way through. It’s just not his thing lol ?
No,because my hubby has dyslexia and so does a friend. They try but its hard…of course my hubby loves audiobooks
Yes. My 14 year old daughter. She won’t read because she finds it boring ?
@Clair mine too?
@Sona I keep telling her, she just hasn’t found the right book.
@Clair Ditto!
No, but I cannot for the life of me understand how people cannot enjoy books!
@Marion exactly!
No, we all have different interests?
Many
First off..I live in Alabama. I do feel like a lot of the ignorance and racism is due to people here not reading. So, indirectly, yes…I am annoyed at those that do not read.
@Marie That perspective is absolutely justified and I agree??
Doesn’t that give you an intellectual advantage?
@Charles I think so too?
I have but my annoyance tends to come from the lack of using proper words on a near constant basis, as it would come just as much from the lack of literacy.
@Tyra
Well, that describes a few people that I know
@Tyra ya for me as well, well as they say each to his own?
I get annoyed with people who never read but are very opinionated about issues. If they read a bit more they would be better informed, understand the nuances of a topics and have some empathy perhaps.
@Cheryl I couldn’t agree more u know but sometimes when I say this I am often called judgemental
Yes! My aunt never reads as she proudly told me this past week when she saw a picture of my daughter holding up the three books she got for Christmas. Then told me she read the “Fifty Shades” series and how they were the best books ever written. Ehh, at least she read something.
@Tammi oh, my…”best books ever written”. ??You’re absolutely right, though…it’s a start.
Yup my sister and now she had a limited vocabulary and makes up words all the time to make up for it and Im like if you read you’ll get a whole host of new words and phrases. Also she has a crap imagination.
@Taylor-Kita the vocabulary really improves I absolutely agree
Yes I believe so. The only thing she wants to read is David Walliams. But I suppose thats better than nothing. I think my brother is a bit better, I can see him reading if only he’d get off his xbox. Hes only read Beast Quest.
Yes. I have to consciously keep my mouth shut with some folks in my life and remind myself it’s not my business
@Thérèse ?ya me too!
Yes. Especially the kind of people who are proud of it. Wilful ignorance IMO.
@Lori Also true??
No, that is their choice 🙂 Why be annoyed at someone because of what they like or not? Most my friends doesn’t like reading and we get along fine 😀
@Marie That is so wonderful, the best thing I heard today!
You are the coolest grandmother in Alabama! As a gay man it means a lot that people will read books to gain an insight in to what a lot of my community goes through. Thank you for reaffirming my faith in humanity.
@Marie me too!! I’m your age and relate to your thoughts
With every one of my students.
No why?
I get annoyed of people judging BIRD BOX based on the movie. The book is pretty awesome tbh
Only when they act superior because they don’t read and try to belittle my reading. One of my best friends is adamant he doesn’t read… he has the biggest manga collection I’ve ever seen.
I don’t know what people do if they don’t read.
@Mary me neither
Not exactly. Everyone has different hobbies. I love reading and gaming, but I can understand those things might not appeal to everyone, just like watching sports or, I don’t know, doing puzzles hold no interest for me. I do wish some more people would give reading a try though. Not annoyed, but my view of the world gets a tad more nihilistic.
@Christopher yes and I like ‘nihilistic ‘? absolutely agree
I would hate to comment that someone else’s hobby wasn’t worthwhile because I hate it when someone questions why I always have my head in a book! We are all different and enjoy different things.
@Tamason No doubt on that ?
Nope. To be annoyed with someone because they never read is an utter waste of energy.
@Victoria ?
@Victoria just kidding ?
yes I have to admit I have.
Yes
Totally.
Yes-?
No, not everyone enjoys the same things and that’s good! How boring would life be if we were all the same!
@Randi wonderful!
No, as long as they don’t get annoyed with me because I don’t like watching sports.
??
@Bob Ya, I can relate to that bcos I don’t watch sports either ?
No. If I don’t appreciate it when someone gets annoyed with me FOR reading, why would I be that way toward someone who doesn’t.
@Theresa Right ??
I get annoyed with my children bc they no longer read…and they have an amazing library here at home…which I continue to add to, despite their unwillingness to read at this teenage time of their lives!
@Lori story of my life as well?
Not annoyed just a bit shock… I’ve talked to guys who don’t read a book, newspaper, magazine…everyone reads something
@Evette Shock is the right word?
Not annoyed but I’m always surprised they admit that they don’t read.
The only reason I would ever get irritated that someone doesn’t read, is the fact that I wanted discuss the book I just read with them and they’d never even heard of it lol. Otherwise no, it doesn’t bother me.
Book clubs are great for that.
@Kelsey I have that problem with my best friend
No. Boyfriend never reads. It doesn’t effect me at all, so why would I mind?
Nope we all got our own hobbies. I will get annoyed if someone makes fun of me reading or if they act superior for being a reader or a reader of the classics.
Anyhow i dont care what others do, i love it and thats all that matters

I judge …ups…
Yes, they are usually duller than dish water.
Yes if I haven read it bothers me
Yes, because he told me that only nerds read. I got over really quick because I was reminded by the show The Big Bang Theory, the show is #1 because nerds have become cool. I am a cool nerd!
Does reading a Menu count ??
Yes; especially when they’re teachers!
No.. but I did get into an argument with someone that kept asking ‘how do you know this and that’ and still wanted to argue that I was waisting my time reading…
@Dorine, never argue with an idiot. Just look at them funny ? and walk away. Keep your sanity!! ?
@Rosey that’s exactly what I do! I just give them a blank stare and if I really want to piss them off more I cross my eyes or yawn ???♀️
Yes…my ex. He never reads, but yet he always beats me in Scrabble, Words w/ Friends and other word games. I get annoyed because I’m the reader!?
@Latanya ?
Never. I started reading a lot last year after not reading regularly for almost 20 years, so I can’t really judge. 😛
My kids! The joy of reading!!! Fellow teachers who had no clue about the value of reading and rarely read or read to their students!
@Dawn ?
I’ve grown irritated by my brother’s taste in reading, but only once or twice. Mainly, he likes books based in reality with sad endings, and I’m the one all about fiction, fantasy, and fairy tale endings.
@Erin That is a fresh new angle, taste in reading ?
Nope never, to each his own. But I have gotten annoyed when a coworker of mine said reading was lame and boring and that she’d rather watch movies. So as I mentioned in a comment above I told her “reading is like watching a movie in your head with your own imagination and 9 times out of 10 the book is always better!” I then told her “maybe you lack imagination and that’s lame and boring” ???♀️
Absolutely
Far too easily
It bothers me when people say they read but then youve been married 5 years now and have never seen him crack a book.
@Brandi ?
Yes
Those are normally the folks that prove their intelligence and wisdom. Just open a book, expand your world.
Mainly feel sorry for non-readers.
Yep.
Yes..I don’t understand this.
many times
No. It’s kind of arrogant to care what other people do for their hobbies or tell them that you pity them.
Totally agree! I’m kind of surprised by a lot of the comments on this post…
@Pauline yeah I find it annoying if people are rude about me wanting to read, so why would I respond the same way?
Mostly just disappointment if it’s someone I really like.
Nah. That would be like someone getting irritated with me cuz I don’t like one of their hobbies.
Only when they keep interrupting me when I am reading.
@Marla sometimes when I really like a few parts I insist on reading it out to him, but I do wish that he also had a chance to enjoy it.
Yes especially , when it’s a better half
good point
Yeap.
Yes I feel sorry for them
I was behind a woman in Costco who told the cashier she hadn’t read a novel in 30 years. I was absolutely speechless and couldn’t believe she was pronouncing it like a badge of honor.
‘Stupid is as stupid does’ as Forest Gump would say! ?
Not very nice comment
I’m not surprised by that…I barely read a novel for about 20 years (besides ones I had to for school) and I just started reading again last year. People have different priorities. Maybe one day she will start reading!
I go on a book reading spree every 4-5 years . I hope I don’t get the Forest Gump Speech ?
It’s not so much the fact that she hadn’t read one, it was the way she said it that bothered me.
@Natalie I know a few people like that.
Yes.
My husband only reads the newspaper
not annoyed but when im dating and the guy says he doesn’t read i feel like we really are not going to be a good idea…
@Colleen my significant other and I have been together for almost 8 years and we have a beautiful daughter and he doesn’t read.
Yes. I have.
Every day I live. I cannot imagine going even one day without reading!
True words, wisely spoken. There is no division for me, but annoyance there is.
All the time!
Natalie Rainsford Edmonds guess I just don’t see it as an either or sort of deal. One of the wisest and most creative men I ever knew was illiterate. Besides, some of the more active gossips I know are readers.
Yes how could they not sit down and get into a good book?
No, I don’t care what other people do or don’t do.
I only get annoyed when they complain about my reading habits ? Like, ya I finished that book in a day and didn’t get anything else done. I’d like to see you do that on your day off.
I don’t get annoyed but I love to read and I just can’t help but feel that others are missing out! ❤️?
I teach English. Yes, yes, I do get annoyed. Reading is so fundamental to learning every subject.
Yep.
They don’t always know how to think well!
Absolutely—forget strangers, I have some relatives like that—makes me CRAZZZZZY!!!!!!!
I’m also an English teacher. Luckily I teach at a girls school where the vast majority enjoy reading. I get a real buzz when I teach a novel and a reluctant reader says it is the first book she has actually liked. I’m then able to suggest some more.
Yes I have! Don’t understand anyone not reading.??♀️
So you have to read to educate youself ?????
@Shawn ??♀️ Didn’t say that.
Yes
Every other day it seems.
Yes
Nope. We all have our own interests
Sometimes…
I sometimes get the feeling of being superior that you know most stuff they don’t know…
I just feel sorry for them. If you read you are never alone
Dana Pierson So true! You also get to go places you might never get to go.?
Not often, though I have met some very obnoxious non readers who are insulting about reading, that annoys me, but its mostly because I don’t really understand the nastiness or why some folks sneer at reading but I tend to feel extra lucky after dealing with said people because then I feel like I have a secret treasure that they will never find or enjoy… pity for them.
annoyed is a strong word, I am disappointed my daughter does not like it as much as other things to do
@Nancy I feel that way about my boy twin. His sister loves to read but he doesn’t.
I grew up with a mother who despised reading of any kind. Literally. Always hearing someone complain about reading your entire life.
@Shannon yes I had someone in my life who thought that books in the house shouldn’t be seen.. as they weren’t decorative?
No but I always wish everyone loved reading as much as i do. For example my husband isn’t into reading and I wish he was. It’s s good example for our kids.
Yea. My boyfriend is always complaining about being bored at work because they have a lot of breaks. I tried telling him to bring a book but he’s not a reader.
A person who reads is never bored, always have book/kindle in bag.
@Lucy I wouldn’t say I get worked up, more miffed?
I used to be told that I was anti-social because I would rather sit and read a book at lunch then converse with others. But seriously, I have no interest in the Bachelor/Bachelorette and I definitely do not “Keep up with the Kardashians.
Yeah I got that a lot. Just ignore it now, it used to annoy me a little.
