I would never date someone who didn’t read, and I always wonder how someone could survive without books.

Yeah.
Like I asked this guy at my workplace for novel and he was like, “I don’t have any”.
He said it like it wasn’t a crime.

never judged but definitely feel more connected when they do have one

Yes but I agree it’s only for the lack of books. People read what they like and I think only an ahole would give someone crap for reading something they didn’t personally like.

Honestly no, unless they don’t have a bookshelf. I once dated a guy who took me to his place to hang out and once I saw he didn’t have a bookshelf I was like “I can’t do this”.
confession: when there are bookshelves in movies that I’m watching at home or on videos on social media, I pause and check out their bookshelves.

I judge them if they don’t have a bookshelf. Other than that, no.

Not really. I’ve only ever really seen two bookshelves of friends, but I had judged them long before that.

Yes.
I’ve found that a person’s personal library can reflect a number of things about their character. HOWEVER (comma) you have to know how to ‘read’ the library. I have Mein Kampf but am no nazi. My uncle has the complete Harvard Great Books collection, but he’s no scholar.

Only a lack of books at all! They are not for pictures and knicknacks! They’re for books!!!

The film maker John Waters famously said “If you go home with somebody, and they don’t have books, don’t f**k ’em!” (sorry for the language, it was John not me!)

No, i like looking at others’ collections. It’s interesting to see what others are reading. Even if it’s something I dislike or have never read.

No, partially because I only read when I want to. As with everything in my life I go through spurts where I don’t read , so I honestly don’t care if someone reads or not lol.

Now if they have books I’ll check them out and see if I’ve read any lol

No, I don’t have bookshelves in my home because I donate most all my books to charity or to the library. I love to read everyday.

I love to see a book shelf when I go in to a house. Often gives you a bit of an insight to a person.
