There have been a number of books that I just couldn’t continue reading because they were putting me to sleep.

Yeah, there’s been a few, and sometimes if I’m really struggling, I’ll put it down and try again later. After all, reading is supposed to be enjoyable. My last read was difficult at the beginning, but I kept going with it because it had been on my tbr for ages…

Desert God/Wilbur Smith, Gabriel’s inferno/S.Reynard. Both horribly boring.

Yeah … Twilight: My friend thought it was fantastic though … The Girl on the Train: Similar consensus in my family and with friends … Any Jane Austen – I just don’t seem to get along with her at all … And Romance novels – I’m not a Romance type of person

The Silmarillion by Tolkien took me months to read and now, 30 years later, I can’t remember if I even finished it.

I can tell when I am a quarter through a book whether I am going to like it and if I do not then on to the next on my list 🙂

I just posted about “13 Reasons Why.” It took me a good 150 pages to find a good reason for reading it, but now I’m glad I held on. It seems some books just don’t “take” until you’re well into them.

If I’m bored on the first page, I call it quits. It never happens though. Last time was when I tried reading How to Kill a Mockingbird
