I’ve had my book signed by two authors that I got to meet Nicholas sparks for the longest ride and Becca FitzPatrick from the hush-hush series It was really amazing
I brought my collection of books to s book signing and purchased the edition for sale that night. The author was surly and rude to me for signing about 12 books. I haven’t picked up any of her books since, and it was about 8-10 years ago.
I’m going to a book signing next weekend and I hope the author doesn’t turn up like that. There’s a actually a limit to 4 books at the signing I’m going to. If that author you mentioned didn’t want to sign too much, she/he should have put a limit to it
@Ayesha I got there over an hour early and she started late. There were no signs about signing limits and she could have been graceful about it instead “oh I’m so sorry, there’s a limit of 4 books per person to keep on schedule. Which 4 would you like me sign?”
@Shelley They’re actually very good. They start out fantastic, and in my opinion, start going into “let’s rush to meet deadlines” around book #4. After I met her, I never purchased another new book of hers. I think every one after that I got with book swapping or .50 library sales but I haven’t read past book 6 or 8. Yeah, I was not happy with that evening.
I flew from Ireland to the UK to meet my favourite author Robin Hobb when she was doing a book launch/ signing, I brought a handful of her older books with me and she signed them all ❤️?
From the Ash by Dave Heron and Darkness to Dawn by Leigh….something can’t remember the last name but it’s a military romance series. And One Weekend Away by L Maree Apps.
It is awesome! My favorite Author signed a copy of her first book The Sea Sprite Inn and sent it to me, she is the greatest!! And I have a few books signed by Nicholas Sparks, he is super friendly and nice!
Good Morning. I am sorry that some of you have had bad experiences with getting autographs from Authors. I can assure you that any book written by an Author from the #SCP family would have no issues Autographing a book for you. We are new but give us a chance. Let us be the Authors who remember your birthdays.
That’s very nice. That was the first and last book signing I attended. All other signed books I have are because I knew the author and asked them to sign the book for me.
I met Chris bohjalian a few months ago and he was wonderful. He took his time with everyone and wrote something different in each book. He’s one of my favorite authors and I still get the warm fuzzies when I think about it
Sherrilyn Kenyon is fucking awesome! If you ever have a chance to go to one of her singings do! All the indie author events I have been to have been great fun and I have never found any of them to not be nice. I went to a Janet Evanovich signing. I haven’t read any of her books since. She is very unfriendly. She signed every book I had. But she didn’t say 1 word to anyone. I donated all of the books I had of hers that were all signed to a fundraiser after that.
I finally had a favorite author come to a book signing near me. Drove one hour to see her and she ended up spelling my name wrong and ignoring me ? I still love her books and have bought her new releases since but I can’t lie and say that I’m not sad that my favorite author kinda pushed me aside and then chatted animatedly with the person behind me. ( I had asked a question and it wasn’t answered ) Plus, I was the youngest person there too… you’d think an author would be a bit happy to see that a younger age group was interested in her work. Idk. Maybe this a norm? It was my first book signing so ??♀️?
As an author, I love signing books and going to signings. I have a negative experience or 2 at signings but it was more related to readers than the signing author. For the most part, they know why they are there and are gracious. I hope you have a great time at the signing.
Besides, I get a box of signed books every month because I don’t like crowds so I can get my pretties without being social. Thanks to @Abby at Romance Reveal Book Box. Lol
I go to book signings all the time. My library has them almost every month, and I go other places. Those are the books I NEVER lend out. Authors are wonderful to meet!
Yes ? it was all a blur though because it went until after 4 am and I don’t remember much ? it was for a release party, but we couldn’t get our books until 10 pm, and there were A LOT of people there waiting for their books to be signed as well. It was fantastic, though, I enjoyed every minute of it.
It’s a great experience. I’ve been to a few, and they were all famous authors/ actor (Bruce Campbell). Bring a friend or try to find a friendly face to pass the time if there’s a long line. Or if it’s a new release, just read the book!
I love author signings. I am doing one in august and always go to other author tables and buy their books to get some signed lol . Although I ended up giving the last ones away to fans lol
I had my books signed by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Kreisler Cole… both times I just burst out crying. Sherrilyn Kenyon was sooooo sweet, came around her table to hug me (my bestie has that photo of her hugging me and my tear stained face over her shoulder) I just kept telling my bestie “she’s real, she’s real and I’m hugging her!” Kresley Cole was so nice! No hug, but she did ask who I thought her next book should be of. I told her my thoughts, and she told me that particular character wouldn’t have a book for many years to come, as she (character) was the last in the series. Then she tells me “and there are so many more stories to unfold before I get to her book!” I walked away, found my bestie (same that I had with me to see Sherrilyn Kenyon) and grabbed her while chanting “she talked to me, did you see? Did you see she talked to me?”
Ooo yes I have quite a few signed. I feel very lucky. I go to some signings at book shops if I can and I’ve been to some events and got them signed after. I get a bit star struck so I never know what to say ?. X
Nora Roberts does a signing in her husband’s bookstore whenever she has a new book come out. I’ve been dying to go ever since I got hooked to the In Death series
Yep, Ive met a few, my personal favorite was Michelle Hodkin author of Mara Dyer trilogy. I was in New York on vacation and had made a post about her books i found signed at The Strand and her brother happened to see my post and made it so that i was able to meet her one on one. I almost burst into tears. I can not tell you how incredible it is getting to talk to someone who helped you get through such a hard time in your life with their writing and ask them questions and have coffee with them. Ive had a few others ive been very blessed in that department so. The one thing I do have to say if you ever go to a signing or whatever remember to speak their human just like us and celebrities but ive found it incredibly hard to speak to authors who have changed my life with their writing
I met Jodi Picoult at a professional book fair. ( I am a novelist and my novel The End of MIracles was out that year.) I stood on the line where she was signing her about-to-be-released new book (free for us at the fair, as pre-release promotion). I told her my 12 year old granddaughter was a huge fan and asked her to sign book to her. Jodi signed, PLUS wrote a little note telling her to write something to her author page! My granddaughter was thrilled, has note framed on her desk.
It was fantastic. Went to a Neil Gaiman reading with a signing after. Waited in line almost 4 hrs, he’s my favorite author honestly would have waited longer if I had to. I know this is silly but the way he looked at me and spoke to me, it felt like he appreciated that I was there.
Rather disappointing. The author who has sinced passed away was not interested in chatting to his fans. I think he was a shy man and introverted as many creative people are.
I go to book festivals, where I meet many other authors. I try to get one or more great children’s books signed each year, and give an author-signed book to my grandchildren each Christmas.
I go to many events where authors read and sign their books and I have participated as an author signing books as well. I love signing books for readers!!
If you have the chance, do it. She’s so personable. I went to Seattle when MOBY came out, right before the show started and it was totally worth it. She asked my name, she said it was beautiful and I don’t know where I got to be so bold, but I said maybe she’d want to use it in her next book and she said “maybe I will” and I was just glad I didn’t pass out LOL
I went to one of her book signings and had her sign a couple of her books. She’s very sweet and personable. Asked her a question about how she writes and she answered. It was while we were on vaca in Arizona and it was the highlight of my week there!
It is lovely to hear that so many of you love to meet authors. I have organised the UK Southern Book Show in the Pavilion Theatre in Worthing. There will be more than 60 authors from across the UK doing book signings and going up on stage to read from their books or talk about writing and publishing. This is a free event on 4th March.
I’ve got signed books Ann Coulter, Dinesh D’Sousa, Michael Savage, Sean Hannity and others. You buy the book, the handlers give the author a big pile of books and then they just sign a book and stack it up and you pick up a book as you go by. Kind of impersonal. Stood in line forever each time.
I have a signed copy of Fred Goldman’s book His Name is Ron (I met him & shook his hand when he had a book signing in Naperville, IL in 1997) he wrote about his son Ron who was murdered by OJ (yes, he murdered Ron & Nicole).
I attended a writing workshop taught by Orson Scott Card some years ago, and he signed our books at the end of the workshop.
I got a Dresden Files book signed by Jim Butcher, and Dance With Dragons signed George R. R. Martin, both when they came in to do book signings at the bookstore I was working in at the time.
It was an awesome experience to meet these authors that I love reading and who inspire me in my own writing.
I love meeting readers and having a chat but it was a strange experience signing books at first. I love getting my books signed. My favourite was Sue Perkins and Val McDermid.

only few Canadian French authors, when it has the Montréal booksfair, in november. But beside them, I wish to have more (they really dont come here!!!)
I don’t get to many signings anymore, they’re very expensive for authors. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE getting to meet readers and usually end up having dinner and drinks with everyone after:)

Yasss many times! My idea of heaven ?
Yes, I had Sue Grafton sign “O is for Outlaw”. She was very nice.
I brought my collection of books to s book signing and purchased the edition for sale that night. The author was surly and rude to me for signing about 12 books. I haven’t picked up any of her books since, and it was about 8-10 years ago.

I hate it when an author turns out to be a jerk.

My book Beauty in Thorns was signed by Kate Forsyth, who is also a personal friend of mine. It just makes the gesture all the more touching.
Kate Forsyth is lovely. I had books signed by her.
I flew from Ireland to the UK to meet my favourite author Robin Hobb when she was doing a book launch/ signing, I brought a handful of her older books with me and she signed them all ❤️?
Geoffrey McSkimming, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Matthew Rilley, and Kate Forsyth. They were all nice. Kate Forsyth signed each book differently.
I have two books signed by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It’s exciting when that happens.
@Terri
Yes, lots. I even have two or three books with my name in the dedications.
That is so cool. Which books I’m always looking for new reads.
From the Ash by Dave Heron and Darkness to Dawn by Leigh….something can’t remember the last name but it’s a military romance series. And One Weekend Away by L Maree Apps.
I’ll have a look for them ?
I have The Pact signed by Jodi Picoult ? I was star struck!
Oh yes I have been book signing by some of the authors such Nicholas Sparks, Bob Dole, Mike Hucklebee, Carrie Daws, Beverly Lewis and Amy Clipston .
I have a few signed books but only 2 that I was actually there to have the author sign it, Ellen Hopkins and Neal Shusterman
It is awesome! My favorite Author signed a copy of her first book The Sea Sprite Inn and sent it to me, she is the greatest!! And I have a few books signed by Nicholas Sparks, he is super friendly and nice!
Robert Kirkman signed my Walking Dead Comic. This is my prized possession ❤
As an author, I’m flattered when people ask me.

…it’s one of the finest things that we authors enjoy… signing books for readers 🙂
I have a collection of signed books. Even if I don’t plan to read the book I go to book signings just to get the signed copy.
Sherrilyn Kenyon is fucking awesome! If you ever have a chance to go to one of her singings do! It’s definitely not the norm. Who was it?
@Shelley it was Lisa See
@Faye I’ve heard of her though I’ve never read her books. What kind of books do like to read?
As an author, I love signing books and going to signings. I have a negative experience or 2 at signings but it was more related to readers than the signing author. For the most part, they know why they are there and are gracious. I hope you have a great time at the signing.

It was swoon worthy
I’m thrilled to sign my books.
I’ve got lots of signed copies from authors. I love getting autographs and getting to meet authors.
I agree it’s exciting and special..
It’s awesome! Start small with local authors if you can. Eventually you’ll be able to get to the bigger known authors!
It’s a great experience. I’ve been to a few, and they were all famous authors/ actor (Bruce Campbell). Bring a friend or try to find a friendly face to pass the time if there’s a long line. Or if it’s a new release, just read the book!

Was the character futs nucking Nix?
@Tracey yes!
It’s good to know she will get a book. I don’t think she’s a crazy as she pretends to be.
She’s probably the most sane out of them all, you ask me. One of my favorite characters, tbh.
Ooo yes I have quite a few signed. I feel very lucky. I go to some signings at book shops if I can and I’ve been to some events and got them signed after. I get a bit star struck so I never know what to say ?. X
I met Cathy Bramley & Milly Johnson, we had a cream tea and then afterwards they signed books … they were lovely and I’m glad I did it. 🙂
Easy. Buy their book and they sign it at the book signing
I had one of my booka by R L Stine signed by him. It was awesome
Nora Roberts does a signing in her husband’s bookstore whenever she has a new book come out. I’ve been dying to go ever since I got hooked to the In Death series
I want to meet her sooo Bad! She is my absolute most favorite author! <3
I’ve had a few books signed by Hanif Kureshi… author of The Buddha of Suburbia… I was awe struck so couldn’t speak! ?

Yes! My last was Bill Nye almost a year ago. It was long but totally worth it. He’s a really nice guy.

Pretty awesome experience 🙂
My biggest thrills were meeting Amy Tan, Wally Lamb and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid author. But I have many other signed books.
I have. Sometimes a few come to conventions or book signings so I try to go.
I’m a big geek, so I got some Star Wars and Star Trek authors and a few others. ?.
I won a couple of books through GoodReads that came signed by the author. I was thrilled! 🙂 🙂
I have a signed copy of Fred Goldman’s book His Name is Ron (I met him & shook his hand when he had a book signing in Naperville, IL in 1997) he wrote about his son Ron who was murdered by OJ (yes, he murdered Ron & Nicole).
It was awesome
I got signed book from Abbi Glines

I got a Dresden Files book signed by Jim Butcher, and Dance With Dragons signed George R. R. Martin, both when they came in to do book signings at the bookstore I was working in at the time.
It was an awesome experience to meet these authors that I love reading and who inspire me in my own writing.
I love meeting readers and having a chat but it was a strange experience signing books at first.
I love getting my books signed. My favourite was Sue Perkins and Val McDermid.
A wonderful experience and had my picture taken with them
I had my book signed by Anne Rice. She was so lovely. It was at an independent bookstore in Palm Springs.
I’ve been to presentations by Janisse Ray “Ecology of a Cracker Childhood” and Lauretta Hannon “The Cracker Queen” and they both graciously signed my books.
I have gone to quite a few book signings over the year. I generally enjoy them as it is a good chance to meet the author and I do love a signed book.
Jodi Picoult. She was very nice.
I went to my first Author signing event last October and loved it so much! I’m going to Readers and Writers in Seattle in July and Wham Bam Author Jam in NZ in November as an attending author at both.
I have several. The first was Lawrence Block at a book signing in Houston. The last was romance novelist Joan Johnston the weekend I flew out for a dinner party at her house and to go to a football game. She signed thirty or so of her books and gave them to me. (We were classmates and friends at the University of Texas.)
KAREN KINGSBURY
I can tell you authors love it. I have regular book readings and signings in bookstores and the local library system. It gives me a chance to really meet readers, read from my novels and get people’s reactions, as well as what I get from an open Q & A session. David Sedaris signed books for at least two hours (that is how long it took me to get up to the table). When it was my turn he was sweet and wonderful and acted like I was the only one there. Amazing he could stay so fresh and engaged after so many people.? He even signed my ipod too since I listen to his audio over and over.
He sounds lovely. I’m going to look him up and buy one of his books just for this.
It was great!
I have had one signed by Nicholas Sparks and Colleen Hoover! They were both super exciting experience! On my bucket list for sure, but it was sadly super quick. They were both tour signings. So I got to meet them, a book signed and got a picture with them. Both at separate times.
I met the author of Twilight when she was at a book fair once. She was doing book signings. She’s actually from the same state I live in aka Arizona
@Shelley I was on cloud nine and she’s such a sweet lady. I love her books!!
I went to my first signing event last year. I had so much fun and the authors were awesome. I’m volunteering at that same event this year, so I get to hang out with some of my favorites. The one author I’d love to get signed is Stephen king. I’ve heard he’s great at signings.
My favorite author, Sandra Owens, signs and gifts me EVERY book of hers. And has included me in her acknowledgements in one of her books, King of Club’s, from her Ace’s and Eight’s series. It’s cool. I don’t get to many signings anymore, they’re very expensive for authors. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE getting to meet readers and usually end up having dinner and drinks with everyone after:)
I going to buy my mates books. Didn’t even know he was an author. He has promised to sign all of them for me

As an author, I’m always happy to sign books.
I have quite a few signed indi books. I love them all, authors and books!
Great wonderful the ones I have met were down to earth and great
Love to see Stephen king and his family of authors
As an author, I’m always happy to do so, but the most rewarding experience has been this past Christmas when I was a part of a military signing–books sent overseas to our female troops (I write romantic women’s fiction). It was humbling, and a huge honor. As a reader, I have several signed and I find it the coolest thing ever!
