Has anyone read the girl with the dragon tattoo trilogy? Is it any good? Is it about a vigilante?

Wonderful books, but read Them in the right order.
Is it about a vigilante? I’ve heard conflicting takes on it
Yes, she is a vigilante of sorts, being a hacker to collect information to solve a crime. She teams up, but also does things on her own for revenge. She is a unique character, quite troubled. The books are a good read.
Great series
I love it! So gripping
I just couldn’t get into it
The first three were great I really despised the last two. David Lagercrantz turned the series into a cheap Dan Brown esc thriller and it really infuriated me…. definitely a clear lack of quality at this point. I highly recommend the first three though. Lizabeth Salender is one of my favorite fictional characters.
Great trilogy, don’t bother with No4 onwards though
The trilogy is really good. Read it quite a while ago and the story has stuck with me.
I’ve read the first three books – a real page turner!
Brill!
Hate to be the only nay sayer but I could not get into them at all 🙁 I really wanted to but, for whatever reason, I just hated them, sorry !
I’m with you , I did try ??♀️
I couldn’t get into them. I thought the writing was…difficult.
Maybe because they were translated into English ? I kept thinking that it was a ll a bit stilted !
i think the whole backstory is intriguing. Rumors that Stieg’s partner did most of the writing, which she implied and then denied. The fact that the English version was meant for film only so done quickly. I agree the writing is stilted but it’s more than that. I had a hard time actually liking the characters and the plot devices were poorly constructed. I think the films are better.
I’ve never seen the films, so can’t comment but yes, you’re right, the characters were very … undimensional is the word I want to use (if it even is a word !).
I loved the trilogy. Dark, but so good.
Absolutely brilliant.
Amazing
I loved the trilogy. I found that in the first book the first ?150 pages is all background story. I felt quite frustrated with it but only persisted because a friend recommended it and told me they were fabulous. So I did and once past that turning point could not put them down. Bought the 2nd book before I finished the first and then the 3rd book before finishing the 2nd. So I read the 3 consecutively. ?
Loved it!!
It’s fab ?
I loved the three of them! The next books were written by a different author and I don’t think I’ll read them!
I read one, eh… was ok. Predictable.
Yeah I wouldn’t bother. I read the first one and it was appalling.
Brilliant
I thought the books were brilliant as well
Brilliant!
Read the first one. I really liked it. Need to read the other two.
Loved it. First book is extremely hard to get in to, but once you do, wow.
agree, bear with the first one then absolutely brilliant and 2 and 3 amazing reads
Loved them all – even the ones by a different author (I believe that author finished the 3rd or 4th after the original author died?) . If you read them all some questions are answered. It was one of those times I had a very hard time finding something to read after finishing the first 3 because everything else was a let down.
SO GOOD!!!!
The books were great and be sure to research the authors story.
I tried but got bored
Love the series, must read??
I did not care for it
My favourite trilogy! Cannot recommend enough!
Read all, there is a fourth now.
❤?? loved it!
Great
Currently reading them now
I really liked the whole trilogy
It’s really good
Hated the 1st book so didn’t read anymore. So slow!
You have to power through those first 100 pages, it’s like you need to read it to understand the subsequent story but I agree it was slow. After that though is one of the most thrilling/intense books I’ve ever read. Great mystery!
Excellent series!
Takes a while to settle in to -but is amazing writing and story
Brilliant
It’s an amazing series and it has a lot to it actually, really recommend it ❤️
It is so good, however some have said they cannot get past the Swedish references. As long as you are patient you will catch on. Worth it
David Lagercrantz has taken over the series, so there are actually 5 books in the series.
Lisbeth salander .. the modern day heroine.. brilliant books!! The swedish films are great too didn’t bother with amricanised version with daniel craig
Quite agree, original films great, couldn’t be bothered with American version, much as I like Daniel Craig.
Loved those books so much.
Really good
Loved it
Loved the first 2 books
Three of the best books I have ever read…the sequels by David Lagercrantz are very good too, written in almost the same style as
I liked them all but the first one was the best, in my opinion.
Stieg Larsson….a very hard act to follow….so good to see Salander and Blomkvist together again….DVD’S are brilliant ( as long as you don’t mind sub-titles)…… Enjoy
Loved them – read them all in one go. Found the Swedish names a bit difficult at first but soon got over that problem as the story is way good.
Excellent series!
Amazing triology!!! Loved it!
Loved them!
Loved it!
My boyfriend read them, he says he really liked them. I’m waiting to re-buy one to read them, we lost it on one of our trips to El Salvador.
I personally love this series!
Loved them too X
I love those books! You have to power through the character development, but once you do, they are great!
Really good! Do not be put off by the foreign names or locations; just call them Sally and Smallville and read on!
Very intense. Not light reading, at all, but worthy. After all the author was murdered for revealing the stories.
Yes. It was very different, but I really liked it. I read the series. It is intense.
Read the first and didn’t enjoy it so didn’t carry on
Same. I found the content disturbing.
I tried twice, but couldn’t get into it either time.
Un-put-downable
It’s not my usual genre, and I DEVOURED those books!
Brilliant.
loved it and there’s another two been written to follow by different author but in the same style
Do you know the titles?
Mines on my kindle. The girl who takes an eye for an eye the girl in the spiders web both by David lagercrantz. I think that’s the correct order. I think larsson died before he finished the 3rd book
@Morag Thanks
*
I read the first book and didn’t feel inspired to read the other 2. I have the next book on my shelf and have never wanted to read it.
Brilliant.
Love this series!
Found it long & boring
Read it ages ago, loved it but think was hard to get into
Great reads!
Saw the movies – quite tough !
Loved them all
Enjoyed reading it very much….
It’s more than a trilogy- I think it’s 5 books now.
Yes its swesome
I enjoyed all three books
I started to read it but couldn’t get into it
The first one starts out slow, but after the action begins you need to fasten your seat belt.
I recently read them. Apart from me getting annoyed with the political jargen and the authors idea of being a gift to woman the plot was intriguing and driving. Dark and Twisted kept me going through all 3 novels.
Yes couldn’t leave them down brilliant books
Parts are extremely gory- not my cuppa tea.
Read this on my hols in 2012. I loved it. Very dark with certain parts, a guy she sees for money but i got the attitude of the character
Yes its good but a difficult read I found as the translation was a bit odd sometimes.
Great books. Not about vigilante. About a troubled young girl who is super intelligent. Give them a try.
It was terrific.
Loved the trilogy and loved the movies..
Im not a fan of the movie. Only daniel craig
Loved them and now reading no4
Who wrote #4?
@Judi David Lagercrantz continues the series with The Girl in the Spiders Web and The Girl who takes an Eye for an Eye
The Swedish films are far better than the Daniel Craig one
its great
It’s my favorite trilogy. Lisbeth Salander is probably my favorite fictional character. She’s a BA!
I read them all and I liked them.
So good a real page turner
Loved it
Very good!
So good!
i couldn’t finish the 3rd one, read the first two in a weak and was just burned out by the third one, with that and high school. sort of vigilante, it is more sort of mystery. the main guy is a writer and investigates from that point of view. mostly a mystery but the characters are so well thought out. at no point did any of the characters seemed to be 2 dimensional. also the author died after the 3rd and didn’t finish the series so a new writer is finishing the 10 book series but I don’t know if they are good
I tried one of the later books and couldn’t get as into them as the original trilogy. I didn’t hate it, but it didn’t feel like it was in the same league.
The trilogy is great. Lots happening. The end of book three explains a lot. Keep reading!
Fantastic
The first is a slow burner to begin with – Larsson isn’t keen on show don’t tell and a lot of coffee drinking – but Salander is a fabulous character and avoids the cliches. It gets dark quickly in the final parts. Great trilogy overall.
An incredible trilogy!
Very good
Found it very hard going.
Loved all the books
its’s fantastic!
I wouldn’t call her a vigilante but I wouldn’t F with her!
Some of the best books I’ve ever read!
Didn’t think it was for me but have never started a book and not finished it Read all 3 enjoyed them
Amazing!! Wish I hadn’t read them so I could enjoy them again now!!!
Have read the series again after a few years. very enjoyable even though one knows how it ends
Loved it!
Awesome books!!
