I did not like it. Considering it was not written by JK, and felt…. wrong. I can’t really say more without spoilers.

It felt more like a fan fiction.

Well-written fanfiction though ?

Eh, I didn’t think so xD. It had so many plot holes. I do like a few things about it though, but over all, I DNFed. Ended up just finishing it by looking at spoiley reviews xD. I just couldn’t do it. I respect people that like it though, kudos to them

I mean I’ve seen worse fanfic’s, but I have seen better xD :3. I’ve seen some really amazing ones

I thought it was an interesting addition to the story. Some parts were wonky, but overall I enjoyed the main story line

It was blasphemy to the Harry Potter universe. That’s what I thought of it ???

I was kind of disappointed in it. I had a really hard time finishing it. Great concept, but the execution was just wonky.

I get why everyone hated it, the writing really was pretty crappy XD but I still enjoyed it. I’m not, like, a super huge fan of the HP Series anyway and that’s probably why I don’t feel quite so strongly about it as much as actual fans do?

Considering she didn’t write it I really liked it! I thought it was fun to read it in script form & it gave us some interesting viewpoints. There was also some heart wrenching moments like in Godrics Hollow & the main themes from the original HP still came through

When (if) you have a chance go and see it. It is meant to be watched rather than read. The acting and choreography make up for the plot holes.

I really liked it. Nowhere near as good as the original and it was surprising that Draco’s son was a better person than Albus Severus Potter (in my opinion).

Didn’t read but I took a good look at the inside and hated it. It’s a script. Not really a book like the rest of them.

I didn’t particularly like the ending, but the story itself was great. It’s a hit or miss, so read for yourself and keep an open mind. Remember, she didn’t write it herself, other people had their ideas, too.

I don’t consider it canon, and so many characters were acting completely out of character. I did like the chemistry between Albus and Scorpius though.

I hated the book. Ruined Harry’s character for me. Wish I did not read it tbh.. Not only Harry’s but also other characters were really out of character and it felt really wrong for me.

same here. It was crappy and didn’t feel like that’s how the real Harry would speak or behave. I did not read more than 1/3 of the book. It was a complete DNF for me. I have read a lot of HP fanfiction over the years and this was the worst thing out of them all! And that’s saying something ?

1
Chantal

@T amen ??

Its not 100% by JK rowling tho, right? Honestly that book lacks the magic that the other HP books have.

no. I think she just endorsed it to bring in money for her charity but I wish she didn’t. No need to hoodwink honest readers out of their money with such crap.

couldn’t get past the first few chapters. So many things felt wrong with the characters 🙁 I suggest you read a sampler before buying it. Someone close gifted me the book on my birthday or I would have thrown it out. [Yes, I feel that strongly about anything Harry Potter ? ]

I don’t think of it as canon, all the characters change completely or they revert back to how they were before. It deletes all the character development that happens in the books, especially the last one. Not worth the read in my opinion and not worth the money either, I really wish I could go back in time and not spend all that money on pre-ordering it….

It’s not really by J.K Rowling. I saw it. I loved the play as a play, but as far as the script goes and it’s connection to Harry Potter it was really quite bad. Full of plot holes. It felt like a badly written fan fiction. For me it’s not canon, but if you can go and watch it, do, it’s beautiful.

I read it and didn’t like it. The only thing I liked is Albus and Scorpius’ friendship. There are parts of the plot that are just completely ridiculous (like Voldemort having a child with Bellatrix). The portrayal of the three main characters from the books (Harry, Ron and Hermione) is off.
Harry is a terrible father who doesn’t understand his son and alienates himself from him, which doesn’t make any sense to me since the thing Harry craved the most is having a family, because of the way he was raised without parents.
Hermione is a bitch. Sorry, I love Hermione, she’s my favorite character in the series, so this put me off. Ron is non-existent. The one who is better presented is Draco, who is redeemed and a good and loving father to his son (in contrast to canon Lucius).
Most people I know didn’t like it, but we’ve only read it as a script. I have heard that watching it as a play is much better.

Same. I found a “fixed” ending online, where Harry wakes up in the middle of the night and starts to tell Ginny about his crazy dream and that he ought to write it down and she said he shouldn’t. I accept that as cannon

2
Alycia

Honestly, once you realize that J.K. Rowling didn’t write all of it and try to figure it’s shortcomings, you can really love what you have! I ended up being disappointed the first read around, but then I read it again with a more open mind and loved Scorpious!! ❤️

Spoilers:

I read Harry Potter as a child and reading a cursed child as a grownup, I actually like how harry Ron and all the others turned out, its just the time turner story, I hated it as a kid, and i don’t think it brings anything new to the story. There are elements in the book that i do like, for example that not all who are at slytherin is bad, but i dont like Albus, and so far its not a new story but new people experiencing the old story – so no new elements to a magical universe. Im only half way, so it can maybe still change to a better plot. But in my opinion changing the time is just a horrible plot device.
