Blazed through Book 1 and 2. Had to put them aside because I was starting think with a Scottish accent. Read a few other books and then jumped back in and read 3 and 4. Still loving them. Started book 5 and only made it half-way through. Got very boring. Have not been able to get back into it and I really want to finish the series. Maybe some day!!

I think they are great, but I’ve been reading them for years. I’m not sure it could live up to the hype at this point.

Absolutely loved the first one. Even shed a tear! It is very well researched as much more than just a romance / historical fiction. I usually don’t read romance. This book is amazing.

I love them, and I have read multiple times. I am of Scottish descent. My mother was a 1st generation American. I have learned so many things about Scotland and the people of Scotland. Diana Gabaldon is a marvelous writer. Anxiously waiting for Book #9!

I was not a fan either. You either love them, or you don’t. I’m excited when there’s gritty Scottish history, but the romance ruined it for me. I struggled through the first part of the book, slammed her shut, and picked up Jack Whyte’s – Forest Laird, and got my fix?

It has been many years since I read the book. I started the series and got as gar as The fiery Cross. I thought the author’s use of words to describe, to converse, and to draw me into this story were wonderful. In the future I want to go back and reread and then finish the entire series.

Sharon I hear ya. I am in book clubs and I can hardly pull myself away from Outlander books and read something else. I was late to the books and show. My sister kept telling me and I didn’t bite. Now I watched the 4 seasons and read the 4 books. Going back and forth rereading and rewatching episodes. My sister and husband have had to do an intervention. Lol. Hubby likes it too but won’t admit it. Anyway I am band till I get my taxes ready and work done. Lol

@Elizabeth– I am retired…. best thing ever for a Grandma and a reader!!!
I do understand your position ❤️
Hope you get to read more very soon!!

0
Elizabeth

@Sue taxes need to be prepared for my accountant. Plus I am a realtor so starting to get busy. Anyway I will get thru it. Not sure once done with 4 if I will want to read 5 till after I see season 5. Books tend to be better but I understand the need to have the series have high points each episode. So may wait even though my sister has given me all of her books till 9. Which Diana says will be coming soon.

Sue

I haven’t watched the tv series

0
Elizabeth

@Sue it is good too. If you have Starz it is worth the watch. They change it up a bit. So it is nice to see how the book is different. I think Stars is offers free sometimes for 30 days. So I know some friends that have binged the show during the free time.

0
Sue

@Elizabeth we don’t have stars. I’ll get to see it one of these days.

1
Elizabeth

@Sue it is worth it. They did a good job. The author thinks They did too.
