I’ve read better on the holocaust. If you’re a teacher, I would look at my options as well as think about the depression and anxiety levels of today’s youth. Choose something that makes them think, but follow it with something hopeful and empowering.

0
Reply
Lynn

There’s not a lot to be hopeful about the Holocaust, especially in the era of Trump.

0
Carrie

@Lynn true stories with endings highlighting survival matter, I speak as a Jr. High SPED teacher. Young minds are under a lot of stress. For example 3, yes 3, teens in my school hub in the past 6 weeks have jumped or threatened to jump off a local overpass into oncoming traffic. One died. One was stopped. Another was “caught” on the top of a big rig by a cooperative trucker. I live in a good middleclass area of Arlington Texas. I have worked with many ED youth. Our kids NEED hope- developmentally, without hope and the maturity to self regulate and apply coping strategies they want to throw themselves off bridges.

I just read that book a few weeks ago. It is hard to read but it is a very important book. It reminds us of the violence man can impose on his fellow man. It shows us from the victim’s point of view how that violence forces the victim to do things he never thought he would have to do…

Great book, but will definitely stay with you forever. I get so angry at the people that try and claim that the holocaust never happened. How insulting to those who lost their entire families to this kind of hatred.
