Vicky, are you serious? Lol. Mo Hayder is a legend! I cannot recommend her Jack Caffrey series highly enough. It all starts with ‘Birdman’ and ‘The Treatment’, but, gets better and better and better with ‘ Wolf’ being the last offering until a new one in 2017. There are two relatively forgetful standalone books called ‘Pig Island’ and ‘Tokyo’ aka The Devil Of Nanking, but another standalone entitled ‘Hanging Hill’ is an absolute must read. I’m sure that you will not be disappointed xx

Birdman is one of the most disturbing books you’ll ever read. My partner couldn’t finish it. It’s brilliant!

Pam

She writes about police, good and bad, missing child, childhood trauma, man hunts and a lot of psychological issues. They take a bit to get into but the stories are brilliant. Bird man was the first followed by The Treatment. Ritual , Skin, Gone, Poppett and Wolf.
Wolf is the latest book published in 2014.
They receive quite a rave. Couldn’t put down Gone. Tried teaching
the next day. Total chaos. When that happens, I say ” Today is shut up and color day” Usually the little ones are angels.

Don’t worry, Deb, they always repeat these films, somtimes on Channel $ after they’ve been on Film Four! It wasn’t bad but maybe too close to the book!

Unfortunately Cadbury’s have been bought out by an American company and now it’s horrible 🙁 As you can possibly tell from my photo, I’m a complete chocoholic and had never before met a choccy bar I didn’t like…. Now have galaxy choc (which gives me a bad headache if I have too much) instead! To me, cadbury now taste like the Hershey choc you get in the states.. Cheap and nasty tasting 🙁

Pam

Oh, that makes me sad. Is Cadbury the same there? I mean the taste. It would cost a fortune to ship some. But, my boys don’t think its Easter without Cadbury.

Laura

TBH, I don’t think everyone has noticed it’s so different, my niece (who takes after me with chocolate) hasn’t noticed it, but my nephew did, but he doesn’t eat much chocolate anyway.. but I wouldn’t bother to get it shipped, maybe if you have someone here in UK visiting you they can take it for you?

Pam

Thank you Laura for telling me this. It does disappoint me because their chocolate was very unusual….Still miss your country and Harrods and Selfridges. But,my favorite store was Marks and Spenser.Still wearing my socks during tje winter time.Nice chatting with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She’s a phenomenal writer. Robert Goddard is as well. They write in a style where you can’t put it down. All of Mo Hayder’s books are well researched and almost you think some of the story happened to her personally. Wolf should be nominated for something.Would love for Theseus Paradox to be nominated for an award. I LOVE that book…….All of you lovely people, have a great Sunday. Go smash an egg!!!!!!!!!

She got into a lot of silly trouble when Birdman came out because she was a woman writing about graphic violence – even though I’m pretty sure the vast majority of crime writers are women! Sexist dicks!

Wade, no idea who her source is but she is good. Have you read any of Sharon BOLTON books aka S.J. BOLTON? I know her source and again absolutely spot on.

1
Wade

I love Sharon Bolton, she certainly seems authentic. They say Linda La Plante is pretty spot on, too, and does a lot of research, even into her TV scripts.

Mike

Another great writer and lovely lady. Always looking for new Authors, any recommendations?

0
Wade

If you like accurate procedrals, Mike, have you tried Luke Delaney’s books? I’ve read the first two and they’re excellent and as a police officer himself – still serving, I think – they certainly seem realistic. Also, Peter James is very good, too!

0
Mike

Ahhhh Peter James cracking read. I shall take a look at Luke Delaney as have not read any of his yet. Thanks Wade.

1
Wade

No problem, Mike. Start with Cold Killing, that’s Luke Delaney’s first book in the DI Sean Corrigan series, and see if you like it! Are you a writer, too, Mike?

0
Mike

Wade only when I arrest people. The magistrates often say that was a a great piece of Fiction PC DORANS ha ha. I’d love to sit and write a book I have so many ideas I just need to find the time and commit to it. What about you have you had anything published?

1
Wade

That’s funny, Mike! I’ve just published my first ebook on Amazon. I’ve just finished the first draft of a crime novel about an ex-military serial killer. If I email it to you, would you take a quick look at it and give me a few notes on the procedure side? I could give you a mention inside as my advisor if you like! I understand if you’re too busy, though!

0
Wade

No way! That’s brilliant, Mike! I’ve tried to use some Army terminology in it but I’m never sure if I’m using it right! I’ll give it a spell and grammar check and email it to you in few days if that’s OK? It will have to be as either a PDF or Word document – I think PDFs are probably easier to read. Is that OK?

0
Mike

Not an issue Wade, shall look forward to it…. take care @Mike

1
Wade

Thanks a lot, Mike! I’ll email soon!!

Birdman and The Treatment are wonderful – I’ve got a few more recent ones to read, thanks for reminding me – one author I haven’t reviewed for the blog. I know I have Disordered Minds in the kitchen, and The Cellar from NetGalley, although I think it may be just a novella??
