Has anyone read Karen Kingsbury? She was on the Today Show and sounded like an impressive woman. Wondering what kind of books she writes. Thanks.

They’re very inspirational and positive. A lot about family and relationships but with a Christian message.

Thank you everyone. She seemed like a lovely woman but it’s not my genre.

I haven’t read her books, but some of them have been made into Hallmark movies and they’re pretty great.

I have read several. I don’t usually read contemporary Christian fiction (sometimes I do historical) but I do like her books.

I never willingly pick up a book touted as a “Christian” novel. Not because I’m not one, but because I figure it would be to boring and goody-goody. Well I have been proven way wrong by an author I discovered by accident. It was a book on sale for Kindle for 99 cents, it had great ratings and it was about a subject that I was going through at the time, my husband was facing heart surgery and this book was about the heart, physically and emotionally. It turned out to be one of THE best books I ever read and have since devoured every book written by this person. So I no longer state “I don’t read that genre” because I was wrong to cast it aside. I’ve not read Kingsbury, but may have to try one.

Well now, you’re just gonna have to share the author! lol I read Christian books half the time and there are a lot of really good ones.

I didn’t want to step on any toes, I knew this was about Kingsbury, however since you asked lol…Charles Martin. The book that I started with was “When Crickets Cry” but the other one that is outstanding (although they are all great) is “The Other Side of the Mountain”. Every single one of his books is an emotional roller coaster, you laugh one minute and sob the next. The best way I can discribe him is he writes like Nicholas Sparks on steriods. They are all amazing books and I wish people would ignore the “Christian fiction” label and give him a try. My favorite genres are horror, mystery, and love stories, he fits in none of these. He’s in a field all his own when it comes to writing drama at it’s best.

I’m glad you have one! I wish there was some way to get more people to try him. Water From My Heart is great.

Francine Rivers writes Christian novels that deal w the real issues, divorce, abortion, abandonment issues. She’ll have you crying too.

Karen writes a lot of very heartfelt emotional stories about thing that happen every day in people’s lives. One of my first ones was her 9/11 series. “Beyond Tuesday Morning” is the first book, and there were at least 2 parts where I outright bawled (I don’t usually cry when reading). The way she wrote the parts during the tragic event inside the World Trade Center was so heart wrenching. I highly recommend that series if anyone wants to start trying her books.
