Loved Hemingway’s Old Man And The Sea, but my daughter hated it. I just read For Whom The Bell Tolls. It was a bit slow at the start, but got better, and I enjoyed it.
I have read The Old Man And The Sea and A Moveable Feast by Hemingway and The Sound And The Fury and As I Lay Dying By Faulkner. Liked them all, especially As I Lay Dying. Definitely want to read more Faulkner!
Both wonderful writers, though very different. Start with a couple of Faulkner short stories — “Barn Burning,” “A Rose for Emily.” Then try “As I Lay Dying.” Hemingway stories are good — see if you can figure out the puzzle in “Hills Like White Elephants.” “The Sun Also Rises” is a great book to read. Good luck from an old English professor! 🙂
I love Hemingway. I would begin with his short stories.
What are they about?
Each story is different.

Hemingway’s Old Man and the Sea is the most boring book on the face of the planet.
I liked it. 🙂

I just found The Sun Also Rises for a bargain, and look forward to reading it.
Read it last summer… Excellent read…
My favorite of his works.
Both of them are great
Love Hemingway! Faulkner is great but some of is stuff is kind of slow going to me. As I Lay Dying is one of those.
Love Faulkner. His books remind me of my family. Light in August is pretty approachable if you’re new to him. Less fond of Hemingway.
