I loathed it. Very slow and repetitive. I admire what she has achieved but not her ponderous writing style.

I didn’t think it was slow… it’s the story of her life and all the considerations she makes…

I just finished it a couple of days ago and never found it slow. It was hard to read in some places but that was only because I would get so mad at her family(and her sometimes too). It is quite the journey and I think you should read it till the end just so you can see how it all plays out.

I finished it recently. I found it to have multiple highs and lows. I have mixed feelings on whether or not I’d recommend it in the future

I have it but have not read it. I feel sometimes it seems to take an author a long time to get all of her background established before it gets good. I hope it gets better because I was really looking forward to reading it.

Excellent book. But I don’t know that it changes pace much. I just found it so interesting how these people lived. At times my jaw dropped while reading. It is fascinating, if a bit sad. It’s not meant to be fast-paced, it’s a true story of her life.

@Tamara I agree. Blew my mind. The verbal and mental abuse was insane. Good read but tough to stomach.

If you are interested in the subject, overcoming and triumphing over poverty, abuse, and isolation, it is good. Otherwise, I don’t think it will ever grab you. It had me from page one.

The last 20 pages. I found it difficult to stay with it.
