I think its because its “wrong” to dislike a child so much! That’s why I didn’t care for it. I thought it was a good read but I hated hating the little girl.
I read the whole book. So that’s a good sign. I rarely read a whole book because I lose interest but this one didn’t lose my interest. But it wasn’t my fave. Interesting though.
I have the ARC and I tried reading the first few chapters and wasn’t highly enjoying it, but I think I’ll pick it back up once I get some other library holds finished.
It was a total let down for me. I preordered on Amazon, then got the arc in the mail. I was so pumped for it! I was very disappointed. In my opinion, Hanna was just a spoiled brat with unrealistic tendencies and opportunities to be harmful. It’s easy to sympathize with Suzette, but her husband/Hanna’s dad, Alex, is insufferable. He’s all, “not my little angel” about pretty much every single thing his wife tells him is happening. The ending leaves room for a possible sequel and I think if there is one and it features an older, maybe teenaged Hanna, it could potentially be really good.
I didn’t like Suzette. I think she has a mental disorder herself. She thinks everything is her fault and the major obsession with her husband drove me crazy.
