Has anyone read All the Light We Cannot See? After 200 pages I put it down. Too slow.

I quite liked the book, but it was not as good as The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. This is a similar book, but one you will not be able to put down.Happy Reading.

I finished it, but I didn’t understand what all the hype was about. I enjoyed The Nightingale much more.

I wasn’t impressed with it. I read the whole book and wondered why. I thought it was a waste of at least a week

I am so happy today to read all of these reviews! The two other avid readers in my life (my father and sister) adored this book. I read the whole book and at the end I thought was left confused and let down. I gave it 2 stars on Goodreads.

It is a slow read but I think that’s intentional. There are few suspenseful moments but the overall book isn’t.

I loved it because I was intrigued with subject so the slow pace didn’t bother me.

I tend to like the slower books i liked this one a lot! I’m not a reader who envoys the fast paced thriller type books…

I gave up on it about halfway through. I read a lot of Holocaust fiction but this one did not live up to all the hype for me. I highly recommend The Nightingale though, and there are many other really great books based during this period.

I also read s lot of Holocaust fiction and nonfiction. I liked this so much better than The Nightingale. Interesting how differently we view things.

@Lynn agreed! I love The Nightingale and recommend it to all of my friends. Only one friend did not share my opinion about that book. Yet most of my friends also loved All the Light We Cannot See… But differing opinions regarding books lead to interesting discussions

@Susan, no two people read the same book! That is my mantra!

I have just finished it, I liked it but I could appreciate why people would think it was too slow. I thought it was subtle, and made me really empathise with all of the characters, I could see all sides. That’s why I liked it ?

It’s so great that we can all read the same book & get different responses to it! I liked it a lot but I respect that others don’t feel the same as me. I forced myself to finish “Glass Castles” & didn’t enjoy it at all while others thought it was great. Love that we can all share our opinions!

I read it a couple of years ago, and found it to be one of only a handful of comtemporary novels that moved me both emotionally and intellectually.
