I’m on Chapter 5 in Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor but I don’t think I enjoyed it, I really got confused on the system. Does it get any better?

This is a reference to daughter of Smoke and Bone! Am I right?? Only got this far with this book so please no spoilers from further along the story but I am very excited to see if these worlds are going to collide!!!
